Pregnant after IF

Time Btwn OB Appts.?

My 1st OB appt. was at 8w3d.  My second appt. is scheduled for my NT scan at 11w3d.  Does that seem like a long time btwn appts., or am I just not used to it b/c of getting spoiled by the RE?  It seems like a lot of you ladies see your OBs closer to 10 weeks and then come back for the NT scan.

Re: Time Btwn OB Appts.?

  • I seen my RE little after 7 wks & then seen the OB closer to 10 wks but OB did scan & not a pro at it so we returned twice around 13 wks due to size and measurements needed & won't have another u/s until 19 wks

  • From 12 weeks until 28 weeks (that is as far as I know), it has been every 4 weeks.  At some point, I will start every 2 weeks, but it is some time after I hit 28 weeks (or it could be after 32 weeks).

And they are boring appointments.  Pee in a cup, listen to the heartbeat, check my weight and blood pressure.  Done.

I did finally have my belly measured this time.

  • Because we are expecting twins, we were every other week from 10 weeks to 32 weeks. Once I hit 32 weeks, we now go every week.

A close friend, who just recently had her baby, saw her OB once a month or so and she was pregnant with a singleton. She started seeing her OB every other week and then once a week towards the end of her pregnancy.

  • I have some friends that go like every 4-6. We go every other because we have twins but I alternate between OB and high risk OB. I think that sounds like normal timing!

  • OB appointments should be every 4 weeks with the exception of additional testing like your NT.

I always said, "They throw you right in with the masses." It's a change, but you'll get used to it. As PP said, most appointments are boring... pee in a cup, blood pressure, weight, heartbeat and out you go!

  • Nope, I think that is good! I go to my OB every 4 weeks...I think we just get spoiled with the RE :)

  • I was seeing my OB every 4 weeks and just started seeing him every 3 weeks.  Eventually, at some point soon it will be every 2 weeks and then every week.

They are boring appointments like njohnson said :)

  • I had my first OB at 6wks (I wasn't with an RE for me yet, DH saw one for testing). Then I had a 10 wk and then the NT scan. I believe if I hadn't of had issues they would have seen me for 8wks then the NT scan but I'm not sure. But I don't think it is a huge gap, so I wouldn't worry. After the NT scan there were like 2 weeks before the results appt. Now I don't go again until 20 weeks!

  • That sounds right.  I go every 2 weeks because I'm considered a high risk pregnancy.  The good news is I get to see my little girls (feels so weird saying that!) every visit!

  • I had my first OB appt. at 10 weeks, then another at 14, then another at 18. I go back at 22 weeks, so once a month. It's hard once you're used to going to the RE so often.

  • Typically my ob appointments are every four weeks.  With this pregnancy I am also seeing a recurrent loss specialist and so I actually saw her every week through 14 weeks but now I only go back once a month.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • I saw my OB at 10 weeks while I was still seeing my RE. I didn't graduate from RE until I was 12 weeks. And then I have the NT Scan at 13 weeks and I'm going to see OB again next week at 14 weeks. So far I've been going for u/s every Monday since I was 5 weeks.

  • I have been going every 4 weeks and will start going every two weeks after I hit 20 weeks since I've have 2 cervical surgeries and they want to monitor my cervix closely.  Everey 4 weeks until 28 weeks is normal though.
