Thank you for the support last night, I certainly needed it considering how awful and guilty I was feeling. Colin is ok, he got checked out and the dr said something odd, he said "..choking on crab shell, hot dog (??) and shrimp tails sometimes don't have the best endings." thank you? (why hot dog??) Anyway, he coughed all night becuase the shell tore up his throat pretty bad but he'll be ok. This has really shaken my confidence and I am taking the CPR course again. Just wanted to update and say thank you for the kind words, I cried a good solid cry and got most of my frustration out. This morning he hugged and didn't seem at all angry at me so we're good.

hotdogs kill more kids than you'd believe (which is why you always cut them lengthwise as well as across) he probably just wanted to throw that out there. I'm so glad he's ok. Really makes me want to brush up on my CPR again too....
I am SO sorry you went through that. and incredibley happy he is ok!
Choking on hot dogs is actually a VERY big problem. Your dr mentioned it probably as a precaution. The shape of a hotdog can easily slide into the throat and block airway. Even if you cut it up, you need to cut it into slices and AGAIN . The round slices are same shape and can block an airway if choked on.
again i am so glad to hear he is ok! rest up momma!

So scary, but so glad everything turned out ok. There comes a time in EVERY Moms life when something accidental happens and it shakes us to the core. Don't feel bad, these things happen.

Hot dog because it's the perfect shape to block the airway, and the fact that it doesn't melt like say a cookie would.
Glad your little man is ok.

I just saw your original post. OMG how freaking scary!
I am so sorry that your little man went through that and I am so proud of your DH!
Choking is so scary and no matter how great of a mom you are it can still happen. DD choked for the first time last week too (not as bad as your DS).
Hang in there Mama and give your man lots of cuddles. I think he should get some nice cold ice cream!!!
had to go back and read - oh my gosh soooo scary!
SO glad Colin is okay, give him lots of extra loves!
