Hi Ladies.
I am a soon to be mom for the first time, I am currently 6 weeks pregnant. I was wondering if anyone else goes to this practice. My first appt is in a few weeks with Dr. Richichi and I was wondering what to expect. Do they do ultrasounds at the first appt (I will be almost 10 weeks), also if they do are they in the office or do I go somewhere else. Just wondering what to expect, trying to be patient while waiting!!
TIA!!!!!!!!
Re: Digiovanni/Richichi OBGYNs
I just left that practice after finding out I was pregnant with my 3rd.
I saw Dr. Huggins since I was 16 and used her & her midwife for my first. It was an amazingly great experience and I loved it. She is great and I was so upset when she joined up with a big practice. It was all down hill from there.
With DD #2 I ended up having 90% of my appts with the Nurse Practitioner, not an actual OB. She was really nice and all, but I expected to see an actual Dr more.
I also hated the wait. That office was NEVER on time. I was lucky if I had to wait only 30 mins past my appt time to be seen. It was terrible to wait 30 mins to an hour to be seen, and then be in & out of the exam room in 10 mins. I really felt rushed.
They also ONLY deliver at Virtua now, which was a deal breaker for me. I LOVED Kennedy in Wash. Twp and didn't want to have my baby anywhere else (even though the new Virtua sounds great, it will have all private rooms like Kennedy does now, but it won't be open when I deliver baby #3. And Kennedy is right around the corner from me & Virtua is at least 25 mins away).
I switched to a practice with a single OB as soon as I found out I was pregnant again and I am much happier with the 1-on-1 attention I get. I love knowing who will be delivering my baby and seeing the same person every week and having them get to know me and my H.
I hope you ave better luck there than I did!
Happy & healthy 9 months to you!
I had a similar experience with Dr. DiGiovanni. I loved her and didn't want to leave but all of the sudden (probably 5 years ago), I was never seeing her. I saw a different person (NP, doc, etc.) every time I went, even after waiting forever. The time I had to see a male doctor was my last straw. (Yes, I know men are just as good, but it's my personal preference and there were only female docs in the practice when I started going, so it was unexpected.)
I moved to a OB/midwife practice in Mullica Hill and although the waits suck, I know what I'm getting and my labor was a great experience.
I use this office and so far have had no complaints. I am also a FTM and have been using this office since finding out I was pregnant. I did not want to deliver at Underwood or at Kennedy and will be delivering at the new Virtua. So far, I have only seen the nurse practitioner once and I am 29 weeks. I knew that I was seeing her when I originally set up the appointment. If I had an issue with this, I could have chosen another time with an actual doctor. I have already met all of the doctors on multiple occasions and didn't feel as though I needed to see one when just going in for the normal heartbeat, blood pressure, weight gain check. I also have not experienced a wait at this office (not one for more than fifteen minutes at least). All in all, so far I have had a positive experience with all of the doctors, Maternal Fetal Medicine (ultrasound place just two doors down), and the staff at all of my appointments. Hope this helps!
Oh.. and you have your first ultrasound at 12 weeks and your anatomy scan at 20 weeks. You only have other ultrasounds if medically necessary. Just an FYI.
Hi! Just wanted to let you know I saw Dr. Huggins last night for my first appointment. I really liked her! The nurses were all very nice. They did my bloodwork right there in the office. You will get an ultrasound only if you decide to do the genetic testing, if not, your first ultrasound will be at 20 weeks for the anatomy scan.
Good luck at your appointment! Let me know if you like the practice.
Awesome.....glad to hear it went well for you! Once question, did you get to hear the heart beat? If so, how far along are you?
TIA
Dr. Huggins was my Ob/Gyn for over 10 years -- I really miss her! I'm glad you had a good experience.
