November 2011 Moms

At the risk of sounding like an alcoholic...

I think I went to my first wedding this past weekend (as an adult) where I left stone sober. Surprise  I didn't realize it until we pulled into our neighborhood, but as we pulled in, I looked at MH and was like, "This is oddly unsettling.  Normally I am hammered and we are continuing the party at someone's house or a bar.  Right now I just can't wait to get out of this dress"

My my how we are changing every day Party!!!

  • Hahaha...I went through the same thing this weekend!  DH and I went to a party, and I had my water bottle in hand!  First party I have been to in a long while that I wasn't carrying a wine glass around!

Ha! yep, I haven't ever been to a wedding where I wasn't drinking! That must have been odd. My DH would have been happy for a DD.

  • I hear ya.  I would almost kill for a glass of wine right now.  We were trying to find something to do this past weekend and I realized that almost all of the stuff we would normally do involves alcohol to some extent... watching a game at a sports bar.  Going to a sporting event.  Going to shoot pool.  Going to the lake.  *sigh*

You don't sound like an alcholic. I think about having a cocktail every day. It's so hard! And everything i watch on TV, everyone is drinking! It's just so in our culture. It is hard to get away from it.

Novembe 2011 I will be having a nice bottle of shiraz!

Chardonnay For Me!!! I already told DH it will be a NICE bottle :)

  • I know exactly what you mean.  I'm in my college roommate's wedding in June & when I told I was pregnant she screamed "Agh!  You can't drink at my wedding!"...I was looking more along the lines of "congrats", but she followed up with that shortly after.

I love my wine, beer, and margaritas!  I do have to say though that we're really saving money, our checks when we go out to eat have really gone down since I can't drink and DH doesn't drink as much now that is partner is out of business for 9 months...

  • Haha, I feel the same. I just got back from New Orleans.....my husband and I were there to take our last trip before we started trying to conceive...and I found out I was pregnany 10 days before we left! We had already signed up for a cocktail tour....can you imagine how fun that was for me? LOL. It was terrible. Fourth time to New Orleans and I can say I will not go back until I can drink!

I can't wait until after the first trimester...I plan on having a glass of red wine about once a month until lo gets here. My sister had one of her babies in Europe and docs there encourage this!  Pregnancy is hard enough!

  • BP (before pregnancy) I drank at most events.  I've been avoiding my friends like the plague because Ashley without a drink can only mean one thing-- that i'm pregnant.

  • What's really sad is that the guy at the gas station asked me if I was pregnant because I haven't bought any beer in a while.  That's pretty bad when the gas station guy notices that you've stopped drinking.  If I get around my family, they'll know instantly.

  • Oh I know! I want some booze too! Ususally Sunday evenings are our beer and pizza night.  I wanted a beer soooooooooo bad.  DH and his best friend had a few for me but I wanted to knock them out when they said that.  I cannot wait until November just to have a drink....yummmmm Drinks

  • Shiraz for me too!  I'm due the 20th, so as long as I don't go too far over, I can still have wine at Thanksgiving dinner.  Although if I do go over, I'm not going to wait for Christmas to crack open my bottle of wine!  :)

  • My girlfriend just had her baby on Friday and I brought them (the parents) some gin and tonic.... to the hospital.  She was VERY thankful.

    I miss beer.  :-(

  •  If you are an alcoholic, you're in good company!  I so miss a good drink (vodka cranberry or that riesling for me.  Ooh, or a cold glass of Yuengling!).  I want booze and sushi right after this bad boy or girl gets here safe and sound.  My husband loves having a DD/carry-out person for the time being, though.  Yaaay.

This made me lol -- I know when I eventually show up at the corner liquor store to pick up stuff for a friend's party or something, the guy behind the counter is probably going to ask the same thing.  I haven't been there in 2 whole months!

"I know not all that may be coming, but be it what it will, I'll go to it laughing."

  • Twice now I have gone out to the bars and stayed until (or just about until) bar close while only drinking water the whole night and watching everyone else get drunk ... that is also really weird, but fun and funny at the same time!
  • Ahh all my lovely lushes!!!  It's not just me, yippee!!  HAHAHA

Seriously though...now that it's getting SO nice outside...all I can think of is Saturdays spent on a patio drinking all day long with friends.  Oh man, drinking water is so nice, but it's just not the same!

    Cheers in advance, ladies! Drinks
