in recent years there has been a growing trend of "presents for halloween"
as in - family members do up special treats for closely related/close friends kids
i can justify doing a special treat bag, a bigger treat bag for those kids, than you would give to regular tricki or treaters, but its crossed the line into PRESENTS
i do NOT want my kids expecting presents at halloween ... whats with these people?
my mom will have a gift bag full of stuff, usually a pair of pajamas, a barbie doll, pencils, and a bunch of candy (basically the equivlient of what i got at easter as a kid)
i have 3 or 4 aunts that will have special bags done up for nadia, and one cousin that already msgd me on facebook and told me to stop by to get nadias gift
this angers me.
Re: does this happen elsewhere?
oh sh*t please tell me i'm not a bad aunt for doing this. I always get my special kids special treats... but never over $5 each. this year they all got a beanie baby, stickers and a bigger candy bag than i give to trick or treaters. They get something like this for valentines and easter too... these kids dont expect anything i dont think... i only do it for holidays. Of course, if the parents didnt want me to i wouldnt. Oh and i am throwing them all a pizza party before they go trick or treating.
