Callie (Sara Ramirez) is the only one who was and is actually legit. She's a Julliard-bred Tony-Award winning broadway actress and singer!! Love her. Everything and everyone else was meh.
And as a mom, I'm kinda up to here with all the baby trauma we see on Greys and PP. It seems like the go to MO for pulling heartstrings and I'm kinda sick of it.
I am surprised with all the people that didn't like the episode! DH and I loved it. I had read last week about it though and knew there would be singing. They brought in voice coaches for the cast. I didn't know that "Callie"was a broadway star until DH told me last night. I thought Lexi did a good job too.
The preemie board has mixed feelings about it. Some preemie mothers are not going to watch it. Others are hoping that it will be educational. It is a rollercoaster when your baby is in the hospital, so some mothers do not want to relive that part of it.
The "It's a Preemie Thing" on Facebook--51 comments referring to it as a Glee type show. Mixed feelings as well.

THIS!
That seals it, I'm not going to look it up. I had to stop watching Law and Order SVU [that's a big deal people!] because of all the baby stuff for a while.
I think only Callie should have sung. It would have made more sense. Plus her voice is gorgeous. An the others were ok to terrible. I think it was too much singing to the point where it was silly. I do think the singing softened the traumatic nature of it though. Otherwise I might just have been tense and sick about it all. Those first minutes in the car were terrifying to me. I think the episode was good though in lots of ways. They just needed to dial it back. And the tiny preemie was hard to watch.
Hmmm... I'm the outlier. Maybe it's because I'm watching alone while sick, but I bawled through the whole thing. I thought it was well done, especially how they interspaced the dialogue with the singing. There was some mastery in the layering the sounds together.
Re: Who watched Grey's last night? (possible spoilers)
Seriously. I sucked it up and watched some of it so I could follow the plot, but it was rough.
