Preemies

I know, I know, I know...

Every baby is different, all babies develop differently.  But, I just do not see a whole lot of progress with M at all.  He is over 2 months adjusted and he doesn't really do much different than he did at newborn age.  I don't know if it is enough to make a special appointment for, but I wish I had some more solid age development milestones.  Any suggestions?

Re: I know, I know, I know...

  • It seemed to take ds (34w) forever to hit his first milestones.  Such as smiling, holding his head up, and staying awake longer.  He did catch up and later he started to hit his milestones closer to his adjusted and then unadjusted age. I wouldn't be overly concerned.  If you are still having monthly pedi visits I would just wait to next appt to discuss concerns,  unless something is really bothering you.

  • Emma likes to do things in spurts, so maybe M will also?

Also, keep in mind that you see him every day and that he's likely doing more than you realize.  I hung out with a friend who had a 9 month old recently, and I was amazed at what a difference 3 months makes!

Looking back on pics, at 2 months adjusted, Emma was holding her head up during tummy time and somewhat when we held her up.

What did your pedi say at your last appt?

    BFP(1) DD1 born 4.17.10 @ 33w5d due to pPROM
    BFP(4) DD2 born 2.14.13 @ 35w5d due to pPROM

  • At two months adjusted Jack wasn't doing a whole lot either. Between 2-3 months I saw a huge difference. Is LO being followed by EI? I would definitely talk to your pedi and see if you can get a referral to EI or a similiar program but I don't think its time to worry yet.
