2nd timers hear "just wait" too!

I got "just wait"-ed yesterday. And it burned....so I swear I'll try my hardest not to say that dreaded phrase around here anymore! :) I know I hated it....and still do!

A friend of mine has two little girls, the second of which was born just a few months after DS. We were talking about our kids and my pregnancy, and all of that, when out of nowhere, I got hit with it:

"Just wait until the second one gets here. Your comfortable schedule and routine goes completely out the window and your world gets turned upside down. If you think you don't have any down time right now, just wait until you have two!!"

Uuuuugggghhhh!

  • Ugh. I wanted to throat punch my FMIL on Friday. We were talking about how I've been drinking water by the gallon, and she goes "just wait till you're nursing".

    A) Who the heck says I'm going to nurse

and B) I am always thirsty, pregnant or not.

  • Better just keep having more kids :) LOL. I figure by the time this one's born, there will be a much lower percentage of ppl out there who can "Just wait" me.

ps: Two is fine! Just wait till you see how great you'll be at it!

  • I HATE "just wait." Hate hate hate it. Makes me feel like people are looking down on me when they say it.

The most annoying one was "Just wait until your hips widen up. I bet your husband will like that." WTF.

And just last night after talking to someone who has NO kids, gave me the "Just wait until you are in the moment of labor.....you will want the epidural." Thanks lady I just met for the vote of confidence.

  • Oh that sucks! Sorry that happened. I have been so annoyed by the "just waits" that I am concentrating on not saying it to anyone else.

  • I don't think I say just wait.. or haven't yet. It seems like such a phrase for people trying to bring you down.. you go on about how good things are and will be then they all go "just you wait" *some kind of annoying rude laugh* as if it pleases them to know you'll probably be miserable..
