DD did an easter egg hunt when she was 13 months old. It was a family event however and the children were instructed to allow the younger ones to get the easily reached eggs so it was fair. She enjoyed herself and got excited when she found an egg but I think a community egg hunt might be a little more difficult. Maybe pack your own eggs and when your child isnt looking you can put one down and have him or her pick it up.

Most of the community hunts I've been around divide into age groups. Your LO will still probably be on the small side but I bet will have fun My parents actually took my DS to one when he was about 15 mos and I don't think he had a clue what was going on but he ran around and liked hanging with the bigger kids!
We took my DD to an easter egg hunt at 18 months last year (it was divided by ages, though, which is important.) She picked it up so quickly that we wondered if she had done it before! Your child might surprise you. Either way, it will be fun for them to watch! Enjoy.
I didn't take my daughter to any community hunts last year, but I'm going to try to find one this year... last year we did them at the house, and if we said, "Hey look over here" in the general direction of an egg, she did a good job finding them and putting them in her basket. She was 14 months.
