Switching sides when DS is "snacking"?

DS usually only takes one side per feeding, but in the evenings when he likes to eat a lot, or during growth spurts, he'll eat for 5 minutes and then lose interest.  Then when he's hungry again 45 minutes later, I offer the same side because I figure he didn't finish it off.  Does this sound like what everyone else does?  I usually switch to the other side after 2 "snacks" on the first side.  I wish he was just tanking up to sleep longer during the night, but he still isn't sleeping more than 4 hours at a time!

    if lo has a snack from one side, i'll start with that side the next time. if she only takes one again, i'll start with the other the next time.
