I have a terrible sore throat. It started Wed night I chalked it up to long hrs and having a toddler to chase around...figured I am just run down. Well here it is Sunday and it is KILLING me. I have no other symptoms..no fever no cough nothing. Im not congested..just hurts to swallow. I have to work a 10 hr shift tomorrow and Tuesday so I cannot make a DR apt. either day. i was thinking of running down to CVS to their "minute clinic" (which I have never done) to have a rapid strep test done...bc Im a little worried about why this is getting worse not better. Would you? or would you call your OB? Just not sure what the OB can really do or say?? (ive been drinking hot lemon tea with honey and gargling warm salt water)
Re: i know you arent Dr's but need some WWYD advice...
FWIW, I've had a sore throat for a few days that is just due to drainage from allergies. I thought I was getting sick, because it hurt so bad at first. It may not be what you're dealing with, but I just thought I'd share that could be it.
I've gone to the Minute Clinic in a pinch, and had no problems with it. It's great for when you need to see someone, but can't get in to your doctor. I would say to go if you are concerned about strep.
When I get strep it is usually just the sore throat and fatigue. I doubt your OB could do anything and would probably just send you to the clinic. Feel better.
