So I am the MOH in my BIL's wedding on July 30th. I have yet to order my dress becuase I am not sure how big I will be by then (almost 29 weeks) and therefore what size to get.
Here is the dress: https://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Satin-Gown-with-Side-Drape-Brooch-8567_Bridal-Party-Bridesmaids-All-Bridesmaid-Dresses
When I tried it on, it was right before I found out I was pg, about 2 weeks before! It's satin and I feel like it may be able to fit a belly if sized big enough due to the style.
another twist, the family doesn't know yet. We plan to tell our families for Easter (about 15 weeks along). Should I ask my future SIL if she wants me to wear a different dress then? She was told the dresses have to be ordered by May 1st.
I'm already the biggest in the wedding (everyone else is 5'4" or shorter and I'm 5'8" and have a 38DD chest) and I don't want to look ridiculous. ![]()
have any of you been in a wedding PG and if so, do you think this dress would work? sorry but I'm new to this...
Re: MOH dress size concern
Personally I think that looks like a really hard dress to wear at 30 weeks.
I have to wear this dress at 26 weeks ?but I would tell the bride to see if there is something else you can wear that would be cut more bump friendly. Just my Opinion otherwise you would have to order really big and have it taken in in areas.. good luck

I got married in August and two of my girls were TTC when we were looking at bridesmaid dresses so I let them pick out dresses that would be comfortable for them. My MOH ended up being 20 weeks at the wedding and wore this dress:

I know there is a difference between 20 wks and 29 wks but she looked adorable in it! At David's they are able to let a dress out by two sizes so my MOH was able to still order her pre-pregnacy dress size. If you're worried about it, order one size larger and they can work with your growing belly, no matter what dress you decide on.
Have you looked through their "maternity appropriate" section? Maybe approach your FSIL with a similar style. I've been to lots of weddings where the MOH is in a different dress than the rest of the girls. Hopefully she'll be completely understanding and not make a big deal out of it.

that dress is ADORABLE! and I would love to wear it. there are 6 girls in the wedding (including myself) and I believe they have all already bought the dress, so unfortuantely it I end up in a different dress, it would have to be the same length and look. I am the matron of honor and then there is also a maid of honor, and she already bought the dress as well. I saw this one and thought it may be close enough if the original can't be worked out:

Hopefully when we tell everyone she will be excited and go with me to make sure the dress is as much to her liking as it is to mine. she is 5 years younger than me, but has been very reasonable with everything so far, so I hope she'll be understanding with this as well.
thank you for all the suggestions! I will definitely ask if they have a fake belly to try on with the dresses as someone mentioned above
i have to wear this dress at 21 weeks

i am thinking of just ordering it a couple sizes too big and then have it altered. im hoping it will fit. i am 10 weeks now and not showing at all yet.
i have another wedding to be in August 13, so 29 weeks. that one i'm pretty sure i will need a different dress.
I could have written this post myself. We just went to order my dress for my sisters wedding yesterday. At David's bridal. I had tried on the dress when I wasn't pregnant and had just lost 40 lbs. I lost about 10 more after that and have gained 5 since I got PG. I tried them on yesterday although they didn't have my size in the dress. She told me to order 2 sizes bigger which I refused because that dress literally fell off of me. One size bigger was still too big. She said that they CAN"T let out a dress if it's too small they can only take dresses in. I'm not sure if this is true as she was a complete idiot.
I ended up ordering it one size bigger just to be on the safe side. But I know I'm going to have to alter it. Luckily this dress will be fine for a pregnant belly. I will be 25 weeks at the wedding. We are wearing this dress:

ETA: I personally wouldn't ask the bride to change the dress for me as she picked those because she liked them. I think that Davids Bridal will be able to work around your bump with that dress. Good luck!
That's a really similar style to what my wedding dress was. The style could easily have covered things up where they are at now for the pregnancy...at 30 weeks...notsomuch. It had some room under the pleat for a belly, but not much give once the belly got as far us as where the pleat is. At that point an empire waist would work so much better.
Could you possibly tell your FSIL sooner than Easter? I get wanting to tell people all together and all, but you'll only have a week for a back up dress to be found, tried on, and ordered. Just seems like that last minute stress could be avoided, KWIM?

I do too, and I'm probably just going to take it to my alterations lady, because, I used them once and vowed to never do it again.
Wow, that is a horrible David's Bridal not to be able to let a dress out. I went in a week before my wedding and was in tears because my boobs had gotten too big for my dress! They charged me extra because it was a rush job but they were still able to let it out.
One of the first questions we asked when the girls were trying on dresses was about how much they are able to alter a dress. My consultant told me two whole dress sizes, in or out.
Some people have good experiences with DB and others have horror stories. If they tell you they can't let a dress out, ask another trusted seamstress somewhere else like other people have suggested.
