July 2011 Moms

Really %$#&ing tired of my job...

I run a small business and am pretty much "on call" 7 days a week while the business is open.  (Really its not that bad...I get maybe 1 call a week when I'm not actually AT my place of work).  Its one of those always have my blackberry on me type jobs because I get emails from my 3 bosses all the time!

But I just got an "fyi" email from the owner regarding one of my employees behavior with a customer...where my employee blamed ME for what the customer was complaining about.

Ugh...one...way to handle the situation stupid employee.  Two, way to make me look like an a$$, stupid employee.

Three...I can't freakin wait until July.  I told my boss I'd come back after mat leave...but DH and I have recently decided while the pay and flexibility of my current job is great...I can't handle working retail hours and drop everything to put out fires when LO is here....

Can't wait to write my (very nice and sweet) "take this job and shove it" letter come late June.

  • I am glad you'll be able to write that letter!  Much better than to be stressed... especially once your LO is here.

Yes   It will be bittersweet.  I actually really like my job most days...but its time for a change..I've been at this same place for over 5 years and I'm getting a little stir crazy!  Time for something new.

I think I'd rather have 6 months at home with LO before venturing out in the workforce again!  It just seems like a better decision for our little family right now!  DH is a cop so his working hours are 2 to 11pm and very erratic (if he finds a drunk driver or a wife/child beater or whatever at the end of his shift..he could not be home until 4 am).  Plus with court dates he has to go to during the day and training...he doesn't know what some weeks will look like work-wise!  We don't live near any family...so its not like we have any grandparents or siblings to drop LO off at while I'm at work and DH has to show up for a court date.

So like I said...bittersweet...it definitely won't be easy...BUDGETING is going to become a full time job...but I think it will be worth it!

Thanks for the support! Big Smile

  • I was working a job with the 24/7 emails, lots of travel, and crazy hours for 3 years. It was a great job in terms of pay, but the pressure... Eek! When I decided to leave- it was very bittersweet, but I certainly do not regret it! I had always planned to be a SAHM and I cannot imagine having a work life balance at that company! I am sorry that things have been getting to you- but now it's countdown time! It's great you are able to leave and spend some time extra time with you little one! Budgeting has changed around here- but all the sacrifices are worth it to me- I hope you will feel the same! Best of luck on the next few months!
