My 10w old twins are eating a LOT.
They were born 32w5d and are doing great. DD was born at 3lb 14 oz and now weighs a little under 7lb. and eats about 4 oz per feeding
DS was born at 4lb 12oz and now weighs 9 lbs. He is now a chinker and can eat as much as 7 oz a feeding, but typically has 5-6 oz a feeding.
I definitely think this is a LOT of food, but the pei said they are trying to 'catch up'. I haven;t seen him in 2 weeks and won't for another 6w but I feel like this is too much to be feeding them.
What do you think? How are your lil preemies doing eating?
Re: HELP...how/how much do you feed LO
They do not get sick bc they are eating too much either.
My sisters both think that I need to stop them at a certain amount and then put a pacifier in, but I think that I should feed them until they ae satisfied?!
I hate not knowing exactly what to do, but I guess that is how motherhood will be like.
well I agree with you and the NICU, but it is hard when I feel like I am the only one that feels this way! I hope that your LO starts eating more for you!
I remember freaking out bc DD doesn't eat as much as DS, so it made me feel like she was not getting as much. But I do believe they know how much they need so maybe your LO will just be a slower grower like my DD.
Nolan is 7 weeks on Monday & right now he is taking 3 ounces per feeding - he does get 10 ml of breast milk every 4 hours as well (all the milk that I ever get pumping)
If they are tolerating it well & not spitting up - having too much gas I say go ahead & give it to them!
I just wanted to tell you I think you are awesome for still pumping! I was getting depressed that I cannot get over 4 oz a feeding (2 per baby), so I am starting the weaning process. (Along with the fact that I have no time to do anythng with my house or even my family, besides feed the twins!)
But thank you for the reassurance!
You are 100% correct. As PP said, you can't over feed a baby because they just spit up what they don't need. I breastfed Em, so I don't know how much she was getting, but she spit up a ton. I wound up feeding her on one side more frequently because that's what she needed.
There are certain things that you need to listen to your pedi about, but there are many others that you have to listen to your gut. If you think your babies are hungry, then feed them! You know them better than anyone in the world.
