**veronicacorningstone**

did you have any experience w/the nicu at new hanover?  i'm trying to find out if their nicu is a level 3 or not...  its pretty likely that we'll be in need of the nicu when dd is born.. just trying to do as much research as i can before we meet with the specialist to verify everything.

oh also, do you have any experience with the wilm mfm office? that's where they're sending me..

thanks!

Re: **veronicacorningstone**

  • One of our boys was in the NICU at the Betty H. Cameron Women's & Children's Hospital (New Hanover Regional) for about 12 hours for observation.  It is a state of the art Level III NICU and has private rooms.  I never went down there because they took our son around midnight and brought him back to us around 1pm.  I was too messed up from my c-section to go to the NICU, but my DH went there and spent time with him while I was with the other son.

It is an excellent facility though.  I have a friend who was a respiratory therapist there in the NICU and he was the one who came and took our son down to the NICU.

They are sending you to Dr. Wright?  She is amazing.  I love her and all her office staff.  I enjoyed going there for all my ultrasounds, even though I was nervous every time, too.   She kept a close eye on me and the boys.  Their rooms are amazing.  They have large flat screens on the wall, so you have a full view of the baby. GL!  If you have any questions let me know.

  • awesome! thanks!!!   i had ds at new hanover so i'm familiar w/the hospital but thankfully we didn't need the nicu last time around... but is looking that way this time.

yeah they're sending me to dr. wright's office, its good to hear nice things about her!  i'm a bit bummed though that we can't even bring ds w/us (and keep him in the waiting room w/an adult).  i can understand why, but it kind of complicates things some since we live almost an hour away... ahh never a dull moment!

  • You can email me at my username @ gmail also if you want to know more about Dr. wright's office. I've been seeing her every other week since about 12 weeks for a few different high-risk factors. They are really great.
