Austin Babies

Need a fantastic OB- ASAP!

My husband and I are moving to Austin later this month and I found out two weeks ago that we're expecting! I need to find a great OB but am finding difficulty because we're not in Austin yet and I don't know any women there to give me recommendations. We will be living in Sunset Valley, so someone near that area would be best. I would prefer a midwife/birthing center, but because my pregnancy is high risk I don't think that's an option. Has anyone had a good experience with Hill Country Ob/Gyn? Thanks in advance for any recommendations...

Re: Need a fantastic OB- ASAP!

  • I see Dr. Schneider at Hill Country OBGYN and I love her.  I'd been seeing her for years before getting PG and when we had our first OB appointment she said, "pregnancy is not a disease.  Your body was made to do this and it can do this!"  That made me love her even more.  Talking to her is like talking to a very knowledgeable girlfriend.

I also loved delivering at Seton SW.  My nurse was awesome and worked very hard to make sure I had the med-free birth experience that I wanted.

  • Congrats and welcome to Austin!!

I saw Dr. Landwermeyer at Hill Country. LOVE her. You'll be getting a lot of recs for that office here! I've heard good things about the Austin Regional Clinic office on Brodie.

  • I also see Dr. L at Hill Country and give her two thumbs up.
  • Congratulations and Welcome to ATX!!

I use ARC Medical Park Tower - it is about 8 miles from SV.  Dr. Michele Gooch - LOVe LOVE LOVE her - she delivered my second daughter and she will be delivering #3 too.  If you don't mind a little commute to see her she is AWSOME - 512-451-0161.

I live down south by Sunset Valley so welcome to the southside of town!!!

Yes   I really like her, too. Did you know her husband is also an ob/gyn?

To the OP, I see Dr. Cherry at Austin Regional Clinic OB/GYN South.  I LOVE her!  I would also recommend Dr. Melanie Belt and Dr. Rachel Breedlove at the same practice.

just wanted to note that the ARC on Brodie moved over to ARC South on Slaughter, so you won't find the clinic there anymore.

Another Gooch rec here!  My DH worked with her DH and I ended up seeing her.  She is AWESOME!  Really caring and works with you for the experience you want.

  • NAK---i love dr. schneider at hill country.  saw her through my 2nd pregnancy which ended in miscarriage. she was so compassionate and sweet.  saw her through 3rd pregnancy -- she was always patient and open and took her time with me, and i have past trauma issues.  i am also terrified of needles and had a hard time checking my own blood levels -- she offered to check them for me every day if i wanted to come in! love her, love her.  she was in australia when i delivered at seton sw, and the nurses and dr. on call said she was calling and checking on me often and in between every flight back to the us.  dr. hart was the dr. on call when i delivered and i would highly recommend her, as well.  they stayed with me and were confident in me through 5 hours of pushing during my vbac attempt!  love both of those doctors and the experience we had at seton sw.  much better than our first experience with our DS.  good luck to you!
