Trying to Get Pregnant

Had my first prenatal vitamins today!

It's all going to start happening soon! Getting so real! I went with the vitafusion gummy ones rather than the super expensive ones that the doctor perscribed.  Didn't get any of the funny taste or burping that I've been told sometimes happens with DHA.

  • I also started my prenatal vitamins recently. I'm using prescription ones though.  :)

  • Yay!  I got excited when I started taking PNV's a month ago.  I'm taking GNC but it doesn't have DHA.  I figured if/when I get KU I'll start taking DHA.  I've heard great things about the gummies so maybe I'll switch when I'm done with this bottle.  Are you still taking BCP?  It got very real when I stopped!

  • When are you guys officially starting to TTC? My ob/gyn said he prefers people start PNV at least 3 months before trying. Since I'm on other meds and need to come off of them before TTC I figured 4 months would be good.

I'm on the new form prenate elite. Anyone have experience with those?

  • I use the gummy ones too.  I wish I could find some without all the sugar on them but this is the only time I have ever been consistent with a vitamin so I guess I'll stick with the gummies!

The plan was to wait until July to start TTC. However, now that I'm off BCP I'm so excited to start trying.  My obgyn did say to allow my body to go through one cycle though.  I'm expecting AF within the next 15 days so we'll see what happens. I've read you're supposed take PNV for 3 months before trying.  One month down!  I haven't heard of prenate elite.  My stomach is sometimes sensitive to vitamins and I read good reviews about the GNC brand.

  • I'm so excited to start too! Obviously lol. If my insurance didn't cover my PNV I would have got store bought, but I figured I'd go with what the doctor recommended. I have a sensitive stomach also, but haven't had any problems.

  • I just looked at the bottle and it called for prenate elite new form, but apparently it's a generic called pnv select. He also recommended I take another folic acid. Now I'm thinking maybe next month I'll look into an OTC after reading some online reviews.

We're starting this June, so we're a little late in starting prenatals (but I've only been missing the DHA in my regular supplements so I think it's okay). We'll see how it goes :)

  • (((comes out from lurking)))

Hi!  It's so awesome to see other ladies who are not quite TTC yet!  I'm trying to get off a couple meds and then we are starting in June.  I'm going off the pill in May or June - H is worried about be going off the pill before I am off my meds.

I tried a brand of prenatals but it really made my stomach hurt.  I'm guessing it's the iron?

  • DH is pretty excited about trying...I'm waiting a bit longer before stopping BC though. I'm going to wait til some of the other meds are out of my system.

Just remember it can take a while for BC to get out of your system. I've been off mine for almost a year and haven't conceived yet. It can take about 6 months.

I thought I had heard that somewhere before. We're on the fence about when to stop the BC. I don't really have a reason to drag it out other than to be extra safe.

  • That is exciting! I started taking my PNV about a month ago and I just had my last BCP about 4 days ago :)  I looked at the vitafusion gummy ones, but then decided to take the Rainbow Light Prenatal One Multivitamin and DHA 250.  It has a few more things than the vitafusion has I am love them!  Best of luck!!!
