It's not even recommended to start doing kick counts until 28 weeks. I didn't feel LO every day until about 31 weeks, but I had an anterior placenta. I wouldn't worry about it at this point and just bring it up with your doctor at your next appointment.
Every couple of hours (usually after I eat). Sometimes if I am worried a drink of cold water does the trick too! You will find that baby has a schedule...so start to notice what those times are and track the movements.
My kicks are all over the place. Some days I have a very active child and some days she's pretty mellow. My Dr. hasn't asked me to count kicks yet, and I'm 34 weeks along. He says as long as I'm feeling them, we're all good.
I get regular kick responses from being active then sitting down and relaxing, eating anything sweet (fruit included), drinking cold anything, and switching which side I sleep on esp. in the morning.
Don't freak out if your kicks aren't happening at the same time every day. Just be happy you feel them at all, and relax knowing everything is fine in there!
DS has active phases and non-active phases. I started noticing his pattern around 25 weeks and he has gotten more active since then.
I was always really worried when he "slept in" a little longer or I couldn't feel him all the time, but soon you should recognize a pattern. It is scary, though.
I felt the vibrating movements from about 19-24 weeks then I started feeling stronger kicks and pokes. But I don't think I started noticing a pattern with his movements until later in the 2nd tri.

My LO's movements were never very consistent, even now unless I stop and actually wait for it I don't notice her moving too much. I think she has run out of room
My midwives don't recommend doing kick counts at all. I think they can drive you crazy. They've told me that I should feel movement in the morning, midday and evening at this point in my pregnancy. If I haven't felt movement, I should drink a glass of cold water or juice and lie on my side. I usually end up feeling several movements within 10ish minutes.
At 24 weeks, I could feel them move every day, but it was inconsistent. I think as long as you can say that you feel the baby each day, it's ok.
Somewhere in the early 20s I was feeling movement every day. Like one of the pp's, I know things that trigger movement (moving positions in bed, drinking cold water, eating sweets, eating spicy foods... heck, just eating!). I know that the baby tends to be really active at the end of the day/evening. But I'm not "tracking" in any concerted way what times or how often I'm feeling the baby. My midwife hasn't told me to do kick counts, so I don't. I just make sure I'm feeling a normal amount of movement every day.
