How do you carry all your stuff? (without being a bag lady)

Maybe it's the pumping that has me at a loss but before DD I had a medium sized hobo-like purse I carried to and from work.

Nowadays I'm schlepping a pump bag, a general bag for lunch/stuff and I keep the diaper bag in the car.  I don't even carry a purse, just a wallet that I transfer around.

I would love to consolidate to one bag/purse for work but I don't know that its possible.

So what's your setup?  How do you carry it all without looking like a bag lady?

  • When I used mydiaper bag that was pretty much my purse.

Now, I just carry a big purse and I have a separate bag that I use for DD (snacks, cup, wipes, etc. and now underwear and a change of clothes)  that I toss into my purse as needed.

  • I got a huge purse/bag from Target that is I think is really cute.  I use it as a diaper bag and just leave some of that stuff in it at all times, I can also fit my wallet, keys, and phone in the outside pocket (so no more purse) and my pump, small lunch bag I keep my flanges and an ice pack in, and my cooler bag all fit in it also!!  I'm a bag lady, but I only have the one bag.  I also take my lunch, but I just carry the lunchbox separately.  I will say I have a freestyle though, so it doesn't take up another bag/lots of space...

  • I leave my pump at work because I commute by train and I usually don't pump at home.  I have a manual pump for emergencies at home.
  • For regular work days, I carried my pump bag and a lunch bag.  I crammed all my personal stuff into the pockets on the pump bag.

I also worked 30 hour shifts, and had to be on a special diet because of LO's food intolerances.  So, in order to survive and pump for 30 hours, I brought a huge bag of food + change of scrubs, pump bag and a big cooler for the milk.  I totally looked (and felt) like a bag lady.  Good times.

  • I have my purse and a big canvas bag that I use to carry my food for the day and my pump (in a smaller cooler bag, inside the big bag).  2 bags is fine for me.  The diaper bag goes to daycare with DS.

  • You didn't even mention laptop!

Workdays, I carry my purse, laptop, and pump.  On weekends I transfer my wallet and stuff to the diaper bag, and just use that.  I felt so much lighter when I dropped the pump-- can't wait for that to happen permanently!

  • I had a reusable bag (like ones from Target, grocery, etc) that I threw in my purse, lunch and anything else I needed.  Then I just had two bags.  Now I feel weird only carrying my purse and lunch!

  • I look like a bag lady. Pump bag with all it's stuff, diaper bag because I'm too lazy to switch my regular purse, laptop bag and lunch bags. I just deal with it.

  • One thing that helped me was to carry a smaller purse.  I either carry a wristlet or a cross body purse.

Daily I would carry pump, reusuable BRU bag where I would put my cooler bag, lunch, and snacks, and my purse.  In my purse, I typically only keep my wallet, keys, and lip balm.

This. I rarely pump at home. Although I was definitely missing it this weekend, since we went out wine tasting with DS and I didn't nurse for 5 hours or so. Holy full boobs! I had to hand express for the first time just to relieve some of the pressure. This worked pretty well.

I have one large bag that I carry my lunch, small cooler with medela bottles in, and all of the other essentials.

  • I am a total bag lady, but I only bring my pump home on weekends, so that helps. I have a large messenger bag that I use to carry my lunch, pump accessories and bottles, and my work stuff. Then I have my purse and my pump bag. I have to go through a metal detector and put my bags through an x-ray machine at work, so it's quite an ordeal.
