My name is Breeanna. (Bree-onna) People have always called me Bree-anna. Understandable, I know. I've learned to just deal with it. Plus I mainly go by Bree.
So sorry! Gabriel was a name I liked for DS but my mom could never pronounce it when we were all talking about names, she said it reminds her of Gabriella...so just the exact opposite. People are lame.??
That's strange. It seems obvious to me that the a would be soft in a girl's name but I guess it's not obvious to everybody. My son's name is Ian and I've had people pronounce it "eye-an". WTF?
Ladies I guess you want people to stop using basic English phonetics to accomodate your child's peculiar pronunciation. People are not psychic, they do not know what weird-ass method of saying your kids name. The same goes for spelling. I don't care what the correct pronunciation or spelling is. If you know who they are talking about what difference does it really make.
Is there nothing else for you guys to complain about? Really?????
#1 Mommy, using a short a instead of a long a in Gabriella is not a "peculiar pronunciation," fwiw. Nor is the spelling of this name confusing in the least.
# 1 Mommy - Dont get your panties all in a bunch. This is a message board we talk about whatever, I do not believe this name is weird, nor is the spelling, Its actually a very traditional name.
I know what you mean. My DS's name is Liam and people seem to want to pronounce his name like Liom, Lee-am or Leman. I know it's not the most common name around but still...irks me to no end.
