Please tell me it's not happening again!

I m/c feb 23 and am about CD 35 if u count the first day of bleeding from m/c as CD 1 ...well I had a beta drawn yesterday to make sure I was clear to start a cycle of BCPs and it came back positive at 36! Is it possible to get PG after a m/c before you have had another cycle and if so why is the number so low? What if I was PG again and now the numbers are dropping again meaning another m/c?!! Any similar experiences that turned out alright from you ladies would be much appreciated right now! TIA!

I never had a cycle in between my mc and this pg. So it is possible. What did your doc say? I hope all is well for you!

Yes, it is possible to get pregnant after a m/c and before your first period. If ovulation occurs, its possible.

The number you got could be one of two things. It could be that with your previous pregnancy your numbers never got back to 0. It could also be from a new pregnancy...and I've seen ladies on here with ongoing pregnancies have first numbers below 36. What matters most is that the number is doubling, not what the number is.

Regarding your question about the numbers dropping again...if you've only had them drawn once then you don't know if they are.

Did your doctor follow the numbers down to zero after your m/c?

I had a MC in March '09 and found out I was pregnant 6 weeks after in April of '09. My DD is now 15 months old and is healthy. We were trying to avoid getting pg so soon after but God had other plans.

That being said, could you still have HCG left from your MC? It is possible that you still have HCG left and it could be possible that you're early in your next pregnancy. Another beta should confirm.

Um, if you had unprotected sex it could be possible. Like a pp mentioned, did your dr confirm that your Hcg went back down to zero? Did you have a D&C with your m/c or did you m/c naturally? If there were even a little bit of tissue left in your ute from the previous m/c then it is also possible for betas to slightly rise and fall, it makes your body 'think' it's still pg.

I'd repeat the betas in a few days to see if they are doubling properly or not.

This. In addition, you have no idea when you ovulated, I'm taking it? Therefore whether "36" is high or low, we don't know. 36 is low if it was 20dpo, but not low if you're 11dpo.

Your best bet would be to go for another draw in two days and see if the number doubles appropiately.

It is possible if you and your SO did the deed. But, if I were you, I would keep monitoring the blood work. Did you have a D&C? Sometimes it takes awhile for the hormone level to get back to 0. I think it is always a good idea to make sure your HCG stays under 5 for a few blood draws before conceiving again. You may not be miscarrying again-it just might still be going back down to pre-pregnancy numbers from the last pregnancy.

yes they were negative 2 weeks after I m/c which would be about a month ago now

Thank you all...I'm just really nervous. I had a natural m/c and yes my hcg levels had gone back to negative about a month ago. I have no idea when I might have ovuated and I know it could be either really early new pregnancy or another missed one! I did have another beta drawn this morning so we will see. Just needed some encouraging words!
