lily and i seem to have caught the same bug- the kind where you cant even keep water down. has anyone been sick like this and continued to nurse? should i plan to supplement tomorrow? i just dont see how there could be fluid left in my system to produce milk.
(and you haven't lived until you've thrown up into a bucket while nursing. good times)
thanks
Re: stomach bug and nursing
so sorry youre not feeling well. vomiting is the worst.
ive nursed through a few stomach bugs and through the beginning stages of my hyperemesis when i was vomiting and dehydrated. it's not ideal, but it's doable if you keep trying to get fluids down. if you have any backup milk or formula, you could try using it for your own comfort. nursing just always made me feel even more tired than i already was. ruby seemed fine though, as i always felt like she would let me know somehow if she wasnt getting enough.
When I had H1N1 L's pedi recommended I continue to nurse him as much as possible so he could get the antiboties to fight off the sickness. (I actually sent him out of the house for a couple days with a family member but just had DH bring up my pumped milk).
I hope you feel better soon! That sounds so awful! I hope someone is able to help you out with your kiddos.
Good luck!!
thanks so much. i am slowly feeling better and nursing seems to be going ok. she did need a bottle this morning but since then she has been nursing fine. i am keeping water down now so i think we'll be a-ok
