Anyone else have a crazy grunting baby??!

DD grunts so much! Sometimes she's trying to poop or fart, but i think sometimes it's just grunting. Like right now, she's half asleep and quiet one minute and grunting the next! She had a good poop right before bed, so it's not like she's constipated. She's keeping herself awake grunting! Sometimes it makes her cough and sometimes it makes her puke. She does it mostly at night. I hope it's just a stage.

  • Mine too from what I;ve read it's because they need to learn to poop more effectively. I'm hoping it starts to get better soon. We've had to turn off her baby monitor a few nights because she's grunting too much. Luckily we can still hear her when she cries even without it.

  • My DS also grunts. He's been laying in bed grunting for the past hour- but still isn't awake so I'm just waiting here, he normally wakes at 6:25-6:30!

  • Yup our LO has been a grunter since we brought him home. Usually in the morning hours, followed by farts/poop. It keeps me awake and drives me crazy cause half the time he is grunting in his sleep, and he sleeps next to me in his RNP so it keeps me up.

this, including the part about having to turn off the monitor. I thought for sure she was awake this morning from all the noise she was making so I went in to check and she's happily sleeping away, still swaddled, just being noisy I guess.

  • Ha! I thought I was the only one. I was about ready to call my pedi's office. My son grunts all the time!!!! Especially when he's waking up and stretching. Surprisingly he's a quiet pooper, as far as pushing sounds go.

  • YES! And at nighttime he is so loud it keeps me up. Unfortanetly I'm not the type to sleep through much. I'm contemplating putting him in his own room soon so I can get alittle sleep.

  • C does the same thing.  My DD was also a grunter.  They eventually grow out of it.

  • Mj is always grunting. People always comment how he must be pooping but no it's how he communicates.
