TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Who's up for a rousing hand of Damn Dog!?

We just had a minor freakout with Biscuit. She was acting really weird, kind of lethargic, seemed to be drooling (they're not drooly dogs at all), tongue kind of lolling around. As we inspected her, we realized she couldn't close her mouth. Her teeth were lined up and everything, but her jaw just locked about a centimeter before her teeth came together like they should in the front. Did the CPR-style finger sweep, nada. Tried to get her to eat a treat, nada.

We started getting scared that the herbicide we had sprayed for weeds the other day was giving her lockjaw or something (because it would be SO like our dogs to have random crazy problems like lockjaw or a jaw cyst or something) Finally, I opened up her mouth as wide as I could, and all the way at the back, she had managed to wedge a stick between the left back molar and right back molar, perfectly fit across the back of her mouth like a suspension shower curtain rod between two walls.

Whew. Really glad that a - she has no weird jaw disease, and b - we didn't spend a couple hundred bucks at the emergency vet for them to pull a stick out of her mouth.

  • You're a genius! And I admire your calm under pressure. Totally sounds like something Jordan would do.

  • so glad your dog's alright and you figured it out so quickly.  Unfortunately I don't have any pets anymore but definitely sounds like something my old dog would have done.  He was always trying to bring sticks back inside the house for playing.

  • Poor Biscuit!!

I haven't had any truly Damn Dog-worthy stories lately. Although she's taken to crawling under the covers with us after we fall asleep. Last night she's under the covers. DH sleeps naked. She needed to slurp her paws. They were located very close to DH junk.

Needless to say I woke up to a very shrill, "Zoeeeeeeey!!" last night/early this morning.

  • I have no good dog stories right now, but so glad your dog is ok.

I could see this happening at our house. My dog loves sleeping under the covers and a few months ago dh woke me by yelling at her because she was licking his belly button for some reason.

  • Aahhhh BGP and butterfly I just busted a gut laughing at those. Biscuit likes to get under the covers too and she likes to sleep between my legs, with her head on my belly. Which is fine and cute and snuggly and sweet and all - as long as I have PJs on......

  • Poor Biscuit! I bet she felt so relieved when you pulled the stick out!

    BGP, that's funny!

My dogs have been damn dogs everyday lately!  Nothing hilarious, though, only aggravation!

This just cracks me up!  Dogs are so funny :)

My dog loves DHs socks which is funny by itself when you see her carrying sock after sock to where ever we are.  I was sick last fall and she brought me 7 socks in bed instead of just laying down.  Lately though, she has taken to carrying my underwear around...not so funny!

Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
