6 weeks and scared....

Hi Ladies and congratulations to all!!!

I am currently 6 weeks pregnant with my first child.  My husband and I have been TTC for over 2 years with no luck (I don't ovulate).  Soo.... we began seeing a fertility specialist over a year ago.  We did rounds of clomid and were about to begin injections.  My RE decided to perform an HSG test to flush out my tubes and guess what???  By some miracle, I ovulated naturally 3 weeks later and now I'm preggers!

Ever since I found out that I'm pregnant, I have the constant fear of miscarrying.  Many women in my family have had miscarriages for their first pregnancy and I can't help but feel that it may happen to me too.  Every moment I spend analyzing how I feel and the differences. For instance, in the beginning, I had very sore breasts, fatigue, etc.  Now, not so much.  I do have cramping every once in a while, but nothing severe.  I can't help but feel like I am constantly about to get my period.  Is anyone else going through this?

I know I must sound crazy or just plain paranoid, but I really want this one to stick!  We had a 5-week sonogram to make sure the gestational sack was in the right place, and thankfully it was.  Now I go back for another sonogram on April 6th to see the baby and maybe a heartbeat.

I would love to hear from others about their experiences so far.  Maybe it will calm my nerves a bit.

 Good luck to all!

T

Re: 6 weeks and scared....

  • Wow, congrats on your long awaited BFP! I'm not as far along as you, but so far I've been tired, sore nips not boobs, and bloated. I've had cramps for the last week and the last 2 days feel like my period is coming, but I haven't had any spotting/bleeding.

Good luck & welcome to the board.

  • We are still very cautious as well. We had a CP this time last year. And we have been seeing an RE since January. At first even before I got the BFP I was feeling exhausted everyday. I had to nap during the day, I literally couldn't keep my eyes open. And I would feel a lot of stretching. The last two days, I haven't really felt the stretching and I don't feel as tired as I did before.

    I don't think I will feel comfortable till after our 6wk u/s.

  • First off- congratulations and wishing you a H&H 9! There is a post a little ways down about feeling pregnant some days and some days not. I've been feeling crampy, totally wiped out and feel like AF will be knocking at my door any second. That's all normal stuff. Just stay positive and try to enjoy this exciting time.

  • I have the same fears.  We had been TTC for 18 months.  I started injections last month and they worked and I am now preggers!  I am so excited about it, but scared that it won't stick either . . .lke it is too good to be true.  I have the sore breasts and bloating, but at some times more than others.  It's almost like I want all the negative symptoms so I will know it is real.  Best wishes to you!

If it makes you feel any better, I'm totally anxious as well. I think it's normal- especially because you have been TTC for two years.   I also constantly feel like I'm about to get my period, and am worried about miscarrying- but my doctor's office assures me that if I don't have any cramping or bleeding, then don't worry about it and I will see them on Monday for my first ultrasound.  I picked up a copy of What to Expect ... and it made me feel better to read about all of the things I'm experiencing. about two weeks after my BFP, I'm finally starting to relax.  HTH!

    Yes, me too!

  • I'm sorry you are scared. I know how you feel. I want to be excited after trying for 8 months but I am so scared of miscarriage. I have PCOS so I have a higher rate of loss. Fingers crossed for healthy babys.

  • I am worried about miscarrying too, but I know the odds are in my favor. I am trying to enjoy everything and be optimistic. I try to tell myself that if a miscarriage is going to happen, I can't do anything about it, so I might as well not spend my time worrying. I don't have too many symptoms yet, but I am getting some on and off different-feeling mild cramps that remind me I am pregnant. Also taking my temp helps since I was charting and know where my temps should be.
