Definitely one I had never heard of before, but I met a girl named Genessee. I kept pronouncing it wrong though..
I thought it was "Jen-E-see", but it is actually "Jen-ess-see" (rhymes with Tennessee).
Just thought I'd share the uncommon name. WDYT of it?
Re: New name I heard - "Genessee"
Oh. My. Goodness.
That's unfortunate.

Completely!
Yep, this is what I think of.
DH is from upstate NY, where Genessee is both a county and a brand of really, really crappy beer.

This made me think of the song "Tennessee" by Arrested Development and now it is stuck in my head.
Burned by the Bear
It's bad. And, I love Tennessee... it's a great place to visit.
Someone could also give the G the H sound and it could turn into all sorts of wrong pronounced Hennessy
My first thought:
(on par with Schlitz and Natural Light)
Second thought was the town west of Denver.
Poor kid, I had no idea it was a beer!
i also thought of that nasty beer! haha
but...ATLEAST "jenn" or "ness" could be used as a nickname.

Yuck, not a good name.
I grew up right by the Genesee river in upstate New York. And yes it's a brand of beer too.
