**LCB**

Hey- I just saw you post that you were getting or have the Recaro ProRide.   I've never heard of this seat.   We were looking at the Britax Boulevard 70cs, but I pulled up the ProRide and it seems they have similar features.  Would you happen to know a comparison between the two, or how they rank when it comes to safety?

I went to a local baby store that limits the brands of car seats they sell as they pride themselves on only offering the safest options.

They stick to Britax and Recaro for convertibles.  The ProRide, based on my research and the knowledge of the certified car seat lady at the store, is equivalent in terms of safety.  It doesn't RF as long (recaro is up to 35 pounds and the britax is up to 40) but that wasn't an issue for us as Kate is on the smaller side.  The recaro also has higher height limits (it's only a inch).

Looking at them side by side, the ProRide seemed smaller to me.  Also, I've heard (based on my friends and online reviews) that the ProRide is a bit more user friendly - the straps don't twist as much, it's easy to change the strap positions, and overall, appears to be a really good seat.

We tried both out in my car and I really preferred the way the Recaro fit in my backseat while RFing.

One of my "go to" friends for baby product reviews has both of these seats (she has twins - it's actually Kimarino) and she prefers her recaros.  So, that's what we are going with!

  • Thanks for all that info!  We were all set to make a move on the Britax, but I just told DH that I may have found new carseats.  The only thing that concerns me is the RF weight limit. For twins, my boys have always been big.  We find out tomorrow how much they weigh and I'm pretty sure it's close to 20lbs.  I want to keep them rear-facing as long as possible, so the Recaros are a little worrying.  I think I will ask the pedi if they can guesstimate how long it would take them to reach 35 lbs.

Thanks for the info about Kimarino, I'm going to page her now to find out more, since her girls are over a year old.
