Would you let LO sleep in a bouncy seat during travel

We're going on a trip from Saturday through next Wednesday or Thursday.  DH suggested maybe we just bring the bouncy seat for our 3 month old to sleep in instead of his pack n play.  We'll be staying in hotels.  It would make things a lot easier, since we already have to bring one pnp for the toddler (we have 2, so we could bring both).  It would be a lot easier to whip out his bouncy seat than set up a pnp.  And DS sleeps a lot better in the bouncy seat.  Would you do this, or no?  I'm just not sure if it's a good idea.

  • We asked our hotel (it was a timeshare) to provide a crib for us. They ran out of cribs so they gave us a PnP. They even had the bag zip tied with a tag certifying that it had been professionally cleaned. We brought a lot of her blankets with us so we put her blankets down and she slept on that.

  • I'm not sure that I would.  Depending on your LOs size maybe get a RnP?  It looks like it would fold up easily and be easy to travel with.  I've also seen "travel" cribs/bassinets - that might be a better option, too.

Also, don't a lot of hotels offer cribs?  If you bring wipes to clean it with and your own crib sheet it might be okay.

I had never heard of a RnP until recently so I just looked it up.  It looks just like a bouncy seat that's higher up and maybe doesn't bounce.  Why would one of these be better than a bouncy seat?  Is it safer for some reason?  It kind of looks a little tippy actually.

  • I would be scared LO wouldn't sleep anywhere else when you got home more than anything.

  • I've done it with no issues, just make sure to keep the bouncy seat out of walkways so you don't trip over it at night >_< that's one 4 am trip to the bathroom no one at my grandma's will forget.

It's actually designed for sleeping in whereas a bouncy seat is not.  It's deeper and more sturdy.

  • My LO sleeps in the RNP now, we are trying to transition to the crib and/ or PNP. Also traveling in a few weeks and was debating this issue. I don't think he would be unsafe in the bouncy seat, but I would be worried that he would not sleep else where after you return from your trip.
  • Most hotels have cribs or PnPs, I would call and request that one be available at check-in.

  • L slept in his bouncy seat for 4 or 5 days while he had a cold/ear infection because he wouldn't tolerate being flat on his back. I'd see if the hotel can provide a crib, or just use the bouncy seat. I see no reason to spend extra money on the RnP for this one occasion.

I agree - although the bouncy seat we have is deeper than most, there's really not a big difference between this and the RnP.  DD sleeps in this right now in our room because of her reflux.

This is what we are bringing for an upcoming 4 day trip for our 3 month old and I'm not worried about it.
