I?ve been reading all this other birth stories and finally decided to post mine.
I was due January 23rd. The day came and went. Wedesday 26th I had an appointment and they stripped my membranes. And it worked.
Thursday night 11.45pm I laid down and felt a sudden gush...i thought my water broke. Called DH who was working nights, called L&D and they told me to come in right away. Didint really have contractions.
Woke up my mom and we drove to the hospital. On the way there my contractions started to come every 3-4 minutes, they lasted about 45secs-1 min and they were really painful.
Halfway to the hospital DH calls to meet me and follow him and his co-worker in their cars (they are MP?s). So basically I got to the hospital beween 2 cop cars and light and sirens and everything.
We get in, they check me, I?m only 1cm and they want me to go home since I wasnt in active labor. Oh, and they said my water didnt break and I guess I just peed myself. I begged for pain killers. They finally gave me something and send me home. On the way home i puked my guts out and gone were the pain killers. I went to bed, tried to sleep but the contractions kept coming every 3-4 mins.
At 11am my mom talked me into going to the hospital again. I was so scared that they would send me home. But when i got there I was 6cm. They admitted me right away and I first thing I did was ask for an Epi. I couldnt take it anymore. Ipromised myself to wait as long as possible but i was already 12 hours in pain.
Well, they admitted me, check me again 30 mins later and I was 9cm. Got the Epi 1 hour later. It was great!
Bad part was that the contracions slowed down to every 6-8mins. Baby was way too high. After a few hours they gave me Pitocin for about 3 hours.
Finally at 7.30pm I was ready to push....and i pushed....and pushed......and pushed until my beautiful baby boy came into this world at 10pm.....after 2,5 hours of pushing.

Congrats!
To PP, the anesthetist could have been busy working on other patients which would explain the wait. It is not uncommon at all.
Congrats!!! So glad he made it!!! I lovethe MP escort to L&D.
Also (at least for mine) they have to draw and run some bloodwork first, call the dr, and the dr has to order it, like a prescription. A nurse can't just get it on demand.
I had to wait about 1.5 hours for mine too.
