Braylon's birth story

Braylon was born 3/21

I was scheduled to be induce on Tuesday the 22nd, on sunday night at 5:00 I got a call from labor and delivery asking me if I would like to come in at 6:30 to start the induction since my Dr was there and they had some rooms open. 

We got there at 6:30 when they started all the initials tests. The plan was to start the cervidil, which would get me ready to induce and they would leave it in for 12 hours, this would allow me to get a good night sleep before they big show started. They inserted that at 8:15 and by 8:30 contractions came out of no where... OFF THE CHARTS and every 1-2 minutes. I dealt with those crazy contractions until 3:30 in the morning when my nurse checked me and i still hadn't dilated AT ALL... my Dr said I needed to get the epidural because I would be so worn out I wouldn't be able to push.

so at 4:00 I got the epidural (which was nothing!, and I HATE needles). The epidural was amazing... I fell asleep at 4:30 and was woken up at 5:30 to get lab work done... then at 6:30 then at 7:30... so I got ONE hour of sleep. 8:30 came around for them to take the cervidil out and my nurse panicked when she realized my water had broke and I was 9 cm dilated. She couldnt get the medicine out so another nurse came in and got it out and told me that I was 10 cm dilated and that she was going to call my doctor.

We were NOT expecting this at all... the epidural actually help me progress! and REALLY fast. So we had to whip out our phones and call our parents. at 9 my doctor came in and said he wanted to wait a few minutes for the baby to drop a little further. Well as we were waiting he had an emergency c section!! at 10:00 the head was RIGHT there, the nurses started to panic telling me I CANNOT push... this was the longest 20 min of my life! my doctor came in at 10:30 and with 4 contractions, an episiotomy (and I torn more, I was about 2 stitches away from my butt... it was a close one) at 10:42 Braylon was born!

With the epidural I was able to to enjoy the delivery so much, I actually leaned in and pulled him out an laid him on my chest. It was the best feeling in the world. I the labor and delivery was nothing... it was nothing like I expected it to be. It was the after birth that was hell...

I lost a lot of blood... My blood count has HALF of what it should be. So I had 2 blood transfusions and they were going to give me more since my count was still super low... but instead they put me on prescription pills. I also was VERY swollen and had a 2nd degree tear. I was in so much pain. All they gave me was tylenol.. So for the first 2 days I couldn't even pick Braylon up, hold him, change his diaper.. nothing. I could have someone lay him on my chest. that is how weak I was from how much blood loss.

He was born at 10:42AM, 7lbs. 11oz., 19 3/4 inches.
