I'm most likely not going to have too much of a problem with my cat wanting to play with LO's toys. He'll want to, but I don't think it'll be a very big deal since they'll probably be sharing similar germs anyway since they live together. I was just wondering about LO wanting to play with the cat's toys? I know I'll have to keep the ones that he could choke on out of his reach, but I don't have many like that. So, the majority of my cat's toys will probably be left in the living room with LO's toys. I was just wondering what I should do about the cat toys that have catnip in them? I asked DH about this last month and he said that catnip only affects cats, and not people, so it would be fine to leave those ones out too. But, I'm not so sure. What do you guys think? Yay or nay on the catnip toys?
Re: Cat post below got me thinking
I've never read anything about it, I guess I might mention it to my pedi, but I'm not too worried about it.
Most of the "catnip" toys we have, the catnip is buried way down inside of them, and it's really just the smell that attracts the cats, I'm sure we'll leave them out, but I'll probably discourage LO from putting them in her mouth. If she goes for one, I'll probably just switch it out for another toy to distract her.
oddly enough, our cat plays with the baby toys, but the baby doesn't care much for the cat toys...
i actually have youtube videos of my cats playing with one of dd's toys and of dd playing with the cat toys. there is plenty of toy exchange in our home! fortunately, my dd is not a big mouther, otherwise we would have had trouble with the smaller parts on some of the cat toys.
as for catnip, i tried eating the stuff many times when i was a kid (and my stoner friend even tried to smoke it!), but i can assure you that it does not affect humans. it's in the mint family.
ahahahaha... I can't stop laughing thinking about someone trying to smoke catnip.
