Are you going to... (clicky poll)

continue to go to bars/clubs even though you are pregnant? Lately I've been feeling too crappy to even want to get out of the house but yesterday I actually felt like a real person. My BFF was having a crap-tastic week at work/with family so I wanted to take her out. We went out to a club and had a blast. No alcohol for me obviously but I still had a good time (I love dancing). Do you ladies still go/plan on going to bars or clubs while pregnant?[Poll]

  • SS. I grew out of clubs and the bar scene a while ago. However, if cirucmstances present themselves that a work happy hour is occuring in a bar, I'll go. But I quit "going out" years ago. I'm in my thirties.

  • I'm 38.  If I go to a club I just look like some cougar.  Meeeooorw!

I was a party girl in my 20s.  Those days are behind me, but not because of pregnancy.

  • I love going out, but lately I havent felt up to it really, I think its ok to go but after you start showing people just start wondering why your out, not that its any of their buisness...but I would just feel weird...I went out for st patricks day and pretty much was a salty grouch because everyone was WASTED around me, im drinking water, and it was just annoying...not to mention before I was preggo I loved to partake in bar fun and its just kindof a drag to be there...also I think it depends on the type of place, some bars are just bar-fly bars of people getting drunk and some are  more bar/grill places so they arent as bad...but I would NEVER go anywhere that there is smoke present...showing or not...

  • I went out last Thursday night with some girlfriends to a local bar for dinner and drinks (for them) and it was really fun. I think there would have to be something important going on; b-day party, bachlorette party, etc for me to be out at a bar all night or hitting up a club but mostly because I'm so tired in the evening and I already have a 3 yr old and that means up nice and early in the a.m.

  • I voted "yes I will keep going".  I haven't stepped foot in a club in 10 years but we like to go to Irish pubs to watch sports all the time.   My wife is a college basketball coach who just went to the NCAA, it is a huge part of our life and it hasn't slowed down at all. I think I have been in a pub every week since I found out I was pregnant?  The bartenders all know I am pregnant and come up with new ways to flavor water!  Our baby's first passport stamp will be Ireland, trip already booked for May 2012.  It had better get used to Irish pubs fast!

  • I'm pregnant, not dead. We always go to a particular dive bar several hours before a sporting event and I'm not stopping now that I'm KU. I just drink water. Sure, it's not "as" fun when I'm not drinking but it's still fun to hang out with friends. Other than that (pre-gaming an event), though, I really don't "go-out" anyways. If an opportunity arises, though, I won't let that I'm KU stop me.

  • I don't drink (even when not pregnant) or go to bars or clubs, so nope.

  • my answer is "not a chance, i'm an old married lady pg with #2 and a 3yr old is way more fun that the bars in Omaha".

but you didn' thave that on your clicky poll. HAHA!

  • One of my two bffs is coming back into town this summer and we've already planned going to dance our asses off at the gay bar, and you can bet I'm going to rock the bump.  That said, most bars I go to don't have the typical bar atmosphere, they're either also restaurants or dance places. I haven't been to one since I found out I was pregnant, and I probably won't until she comes.
  • I've gone to several bars since getting pregnant. It's just part of what our social circle does. Since it's still on the DL, I order soda water with lime, or a beer and play switcheroo with my H.

I will probably continue to go to bars on occasion throughout my pregnancy, even after I start showing. Whatever. It's part of what we do. We're in our thirties, we live close to a popular downtown and we like to get out.

  • I'm not really into the club scene (in my early 30's) but if a friend was having a birthday party, etc. at a bar, I would go. Since Illinois doesn't allow smoking indoors and I don't feel weird about ordering a Sprite, it wouldn't bother me. I would probably leave early, though.

  • I didn't go to bars/clubs before I was pregnant, so I won't be going during my pregnancy either.
  • I don't mind going with a huge bump if it's special occassion like a birthday party or a fundraiser at a bar or something like that.  But I won't be looking for somewhere to go every Saturday night or anything.  At my age these things usually start around 7:00 or so, so I would go right around then and be home and in bed by 10:30 at the latest.

  • Haven't been to a club since before I got pregnant with DD.  I will go out to a pub with my girlfriends but obviously will be drinking water or iced tea.  The one event I think could suck is my SIL's weekend long bachelorette party in June.  there will be lots of pink champagne cause it's SIL's favorite and I will hate having to watch everyone drink it and my god can my SIL drink.  It will be a party that's for sure.

  • My Hubby loves his beer.. he works for a beer distributor and our whole group used to go out to the bar about once a week in the winter and we're out at softball tournaments all summer.

I'll for sure be out and about at bars and beer gardens this summer. Rockin' my bump! I'm just glad there is no smoking in bars now!! My DH will owe me big time for all the DD I'll be doing!

  • The only place I will stop going to is shows with MH. But only because I prefer not to get elbowed in the stomach. When you go out with a huge bump all the drunk chicks let you cut in line in the bathroom so its not so bad.
  • It's not really my scene, but if I need to, I have no problem. We went out to a bar-a very nice upscale bar-last night, I didn't even think anything of it. I wouldn't go to the dance type 20-something clubs I used to go to in my younger days, but I wouldn't do that pregnant or not.

  • I am 22 and the bar/club thing just isn't for me. I have never been into drinking or partying. My idea of going out is a group dinner with friends or a dinner and movie with H. We already basically live like we are in our 30's and I have no problem with that Smile

  • I live in a small town with approx. 2 bars, not exactly the "going out" type of place. Plus my husband works a lot, he's not about to want to go out after an 18 hour workday just to get up and do it again in the morning.  We live exciting lives, it's dinner, watching tv, and going to bed when he gets off work, that's about all I see of him!

  • We don't go out a lot, and when we do, it's usually "dinner and drinks" or to a local pub type place with friends. Many have beer gardens, and I love them in the summer, so I'll probably go out sometimes. My H has already mentioned having a DD for the summer. My rule is that if I'm not going, I will still drive you there, but you will take a cab home if I am already sleeping.

  • I'm 37... bars are just another place to hang with friends.  We don't go to clubs or overcrowded places.  Small bars, non-smoking, chill atmosphere.
  • I voted "yes, even when I'm showing," but I will only go to bars.  I've never been the club type - and neither are my friends.

  • Haven't been to a club since my crazy post-collegiate days. Don't spend much time in bars now--mostly have dinners at friends' houses or restaurants. I have been out to dinner with girlfriends several times and ordered mocktails. I'll continue to go out for girls' night dinners even when showing, I'm sure. I want to spend time with my friends before everything changes :)

  • I'm right there w/ several other posters...I'm 38 and have long outgrown the club scene, but I love sports bars and will continue to go, esp come Aug/Sept IF we have the NFL, but college ball is great too. Luckily they have banned smoking inside here too so its been great and DH likes the idea of having a DD for once instead of being one Stick out tongue
