2nd Trimester

Are Jacuzzis out?

I'll ask my MW when I see her on Mon, but I'm doing a little babymoon research at the moment and I'm wondering. I know hot tubs are a no go, but are Jacuzzis OK since you can lower the temp? My common sense meter is telling me yes, so long as it's cool enough, but Google's giving conflicting answers.

  • The recommendation is that you not let your body temperature get over 100, as long as the water isn't hotter than 100 degrees you should be fine.

Yup. This. Always go with the common sense meter :)

  • Hahaha. Yeah, Google is great for some things, but sometimes it's just way too much info.

Thanks! I figure we haven't left DD alone yet, so it could well be 2 more years before we get the chance again!

  • what everyone else said--as long as it's not above 100 or so, you're fine. From what I've read, that usually means if you have your own hot tub (where you control the temp) then it should be fine, but the public/hotel hot tubs are usually harder to control the temp, so sometimes those might not be an option.

  • I would be careful. Every hotel I have stayed in with one either had no temp controls or they didn't work well.

  • I'd stay away all together!  Not only should you avoid it for the heat issue, but also because jacuzzi's breed so much bacteria!  Gross, no bueno while preggo!

  • Being that a friend who got into the jacuzzi and went into labor at 6 months and then lost her child, I stay away from them no matter what the doctor says.  I'm sure there's a way to check your temp, but jacuzzi's are supposed to be enjoyed.
