I can't decide if I am "comfortable" with buying used books for a child knowing they chew on them. By used I am thinking Amazon.com - there are tons of used childrens books on there for just a few dollars and with $25 you get free shipping. The books are rated with the condition they are in.
I suppose I could clean then with clorox wipes and not ruin the pages?
Thoughts?
Re: Another book question - would you buy used?
i'm not into used books, but thats just me.
FYI join amazon.com/mom -- membership is free and you automatically get upraded to amazon prime which is free 2 day shipping on any amount spent. it rocks. also recommend the diaper subscription as the 30% off is cheaper than most places with coupons!

Honestly, I think it's silly to buy new books for a baby and/or toddler if you have the option to buy used. New books are expensive and your child will potentially drool/chew on them and, if your kid is anything like mine, rip the pages out of some. We literally have some where she ripped the spines right off.
We've been lucky in that we've gotten 95% of our kids books as hand-me-downs from family members. I don't plan to buy her many new books until she's older and is more gentle with them.
I picked up some cardboard books from Once Upon a Child that were in good condition. I haven't even thought about cleaning them yet, but wipes would be a good idea if they're books LO would handle. I would look for books in new or very good condition.
For regular paper books I wouldn't worry about sanitizing because you're not going to just hand it to them until they're older.
Oh, and this.

Thank you ladies.
I am not over thinking this. I was just looking for input on what everyone else is doing. Don't worry, the idea of my child possibly putting a used book in their mouth isn't keeping me awake at night. I was more looking for the "yes I have bought used and been happy" kind of responses. Which I got, so thank you everyone!
This.
