I have a few questions, do any of y'all belong to a mops group? What do you enjoy/dislike about it? Anyone go to a south austin mops? And is it hard to get in, waiting list?
Thanks y'all!

I don't live in Austin anymore, but I'm involved in MOPS here and I like it. I like that we have discussions and can encourage each other through parenting - the good and the bad. I also like that they have fun speakers - we had a photographer come in and tell us how to take pictures of kids and we had a mom who is a major couponer come in and give us tips on saving (she's the extreme, but she had good ideas and websites). The only thing I dislike is that V gets a little fussy toward the end since it extends into her nap time, so I have to scoot out a little early. If they would end 15 minutes earlier, it would be perfect. But really, that's a minor complaint. Ours did not have a waiting list but I'm not sure about the Austin groups. Hope this helps!

I was in a group at Westoak Woods (on Slaughter just east of Brodie). It was a nice group of ladies. There wasn't a waiting list there. The friend I made in that group eventually moved to another group (First Evangelical something something? FEFE?) - it was also down south. That one seemed a little tougher to get into, she was wait listed but ended up getting in.

Probably First EV Free. It's a HUGE church, so it makes sense that they would have a waiting list.

I think my friend helps run the EV Free one. Or at least another one in South Austin.
I am on the steering team here near Houston (leadership team). I've really enjoyed it.
I don't have my kiddos in daycare/preschool/MDO so it's been a nice break for me, even if it is just 2 times a month. I have enjoyed making other mom friends and helping each other through the good/bad/ugly of parenting. The speakers have been fun and insightful and the food is always good.
The only thing I haven't enjoyed is the crafts. But I'm definitely overruled in that area. I'm just not crafty. So I sit and talk and sip coffee while the other people work on it. So it works out.
i love mops. we're way south (buda) and we had a waiting list, but started a second group so now there's plenty of room. feel free to email me if you want more info - jessica at somethingtocelebrate dot com
