High-Risk Pregnancy

yeast infection with Cervical issues.

Ladies that have a cerclage or other cervical issues. Have you ever experienced having a yeast infection during the time you had your cerclage?  I was given some medicine to treat a different kind infection which in turn gave me a yeast infection.  The Dr recommended just doing the over the counter monistat 7 and I wondered if you think that cream or anything can hurt your change your cervix.   I know it probably won't just curious what you all think.  I used the first dose last nite and was kind of crampy afterward and I swear I could feel my cerclage like stinging it could all just be in my head too.  Thanks ladies.

I have had 2 yeast infections this PG and my shortened cervix was discovered around 16 weeks. One yeast infection was around the 16 week mark and one was just a couple weeks ago.

Both times I tried Monistat and it didn't fully clear it up, so I took Diflucan.

I personally always push for the Diflucan because the yeast infections make me nervous with my cervical issues. I often get more cramping with yeast infections and the last thing I want are cramps/contrax with an already shortened cervix.

The meds are totally fine to take and you should definitely use them, just make sure you watch out for symptoms in case the OTC meds didn't do the trick.

  • When on hospital bedrest last pregnancy, I got a YI after being placed on a long-term exposure to anti-biotics. I'm not certain about the creams but the nurses there did give me Diflucan. As far as I know, the treatments should not affect your cerclage.

I would also recommend ingesting probiotics (as in fresh/ real yogurt) which you can ask your doctor about.
