Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

If your child has to wake up around 6:00am...

If your LO gets up around 6:00am or 6:30am, what time do they go to bed?

What time do you have dinner? nap? snacktime?

My LO will be starting a toddler program and will need to get up around 6:00am and so I am trying to figure out a new schedule. Right now, he goes to bed between 8:00 and 8:30 and gets up around 7:00am. We eat dinner between 6:30 and 7:00, have snack at 4:00pm and nap from 1:00-3:50pm. I don't think this will work with the new schedule.

Any insight would be great! TIA.

  • We get home from work around 5:15, she usually has a snack while I am cooking dinner. We have dinner by 6 or 6:15 (usually).  We usually try to play, read, or do something interactive (if it's not bath night) with DD after dinner and she goes to bed between 7 and 7:30 and she gets up between 6 and 6:30.  I believe she normally takes a nap from 11 to about 1 or so at the sitter..sometimes depends, but it's usually a 2 hour nap

  • she has to be up by 545 during the week so goes to bed no later than 630.

dinner is as soon as we get home- which is around 430. it's dinner for her only right now. she gets a little snack before bed, too.

basically: up by 545, bottle, out the door at 6, daycare at 630, breakfast at 830 (sometimes they give her some cheerios beforehand), lunch at 1130, snack at 315, home/dinner 430-445, snack 6, bed 630.

DH and i don't eat dinner to well after baby is in bed. we all eat together every meal on the weekends.

  • DS doesn't have to be up any particular time, but he gets up around 6:30 everyday.

On a normal day he goes to bed between 6:30 and 7.  He eats dinner between 5:30 and 6.  Naps from 12-3.  Snack is whenever he starts getting hungry.  Some days he skips it some days it's around 4.

DS is in preschool one day a week until 1:15.  Those days he doesn't nap until 1:30 and will sleep until about 4.  He still goes to bed by 7 those nights (maybe 7:15).  He's very go with the flow-changes to his very loose schedule don't bother him.  He also sleeps a lot!

Sounds like you may need to move his nap up a bit.

  • DD wakes up around 6 (sometimes a little earlier) and goes to bed around 6:30. She naps from 11-1 (on a good day she'll do the full 2 hours). She eats when she wakes up, then at 8, then at 11, then at 1 or 2, then between 4 and 5. We eat dinner a bit after 5.

  • She sleeps approximately 11-12 hours, variably. We do bedtime at about 6:15. Why not just work backwards from 6 AM, counting back the number of hours LO usually sleeps, around 11-ish it looks like.  You might need to move dinner up - we did.
