We're down to one eye working on our stove. I want gas, DH wants electric. It does not have a gas line to it right now, but the gas line goes right under the kitchen and wouldn't be super hard to get it hooked up. I hear that baking in a gas oven is a PITA, though, is that true?
Re: help me decide: gas or electric for my new range?

I hated having an electric stove and I don't think the gas oven is a problem as long as you allow it to preheat properly.

Yes, I am not a fan of gas for ovens. I know it is pricey but If I had to choose a range it would be gas stove with electric oven. Some things are great in a gas oven, baking is better in electric. But I would always choose gas stove over electric no matter what.

Do they sell hybrids that are all in one? In my CA house, I have a gas cooktop and electric ovens (one convection), but they are totally separate. But it is the best of both worlds. In the house we're currently in, I have one unit, and it's all gas. I haven't had great results with the oven, but I still prefer to have the gas on the cooktop. I think a lot of gas ovens have a problem with too much humidity and some can't broil, but some brands have found ways to handle those problems, so make sure to research.
