Hey girls,
I'm trying to get IVIG lined up (idiopathic immune disease, we don't quite know what I have yet) and I'm uncertain WHEN I need to get the 1st infusion done, prior to getting pregnant.
I have docs chasing their tails, out of town, biz offices not returning calls, meanwhile I'm kinda freaking about the TIMING of it all.
Any insight or help to the FREQUENCY of the infusions is most appreciated. Thanks!!
Re: Anyone do IVIG ? (ps - kid in sig)
HI there,
I'm doing IVIG for the first time with this cycle. I haven't gotten my calendar yet, so I'm not sure when I will be doing it. I'm doing IVIG in lieu of Intralipids this go.. in the past, I've done the Intralipid infusions about a week prior to ET. Had I gotten a BFP, I would do one a week after the positive beta.. but I haven't made it that far yet.. So I don't know if this will be the same... But I did want to chime in and wish you good luck!!!

Thanks. I did lipids with my last pregnancy, but I'm just getting all worked up that all this stalling on the paperwork end of things is going to make me miss my window for the 1st IVIG. uugh.
How are you getting yours covered, if you don't mind me asking??? (medical or rx benefit? diagnosis?)
I don't know yet if it will be covered at all.. Fingers crossed.. but they are still getting my calendar together.
I have a blood clotting disorder, a bleeding disorder, immune issues, and have also had 2 miscarriages. One of them resulted in a D&E, where I almost bled to death and had to get 2 blood transfusions.
I've done 2 fresh cycles, and 1 FET all with implantation failure, so my RE is doing everything different this time around.
I hope everything gets moving, so you can get your show on the road and not miss your window!! I believe my nurse said it would be 1-2 weeks before transfer...
Best of luck to you!!!

Hey.
I'm not normally on this board, but someone saw your question and told me about it. I'm a TTCALer myself.
I see an RI in the Chicago area and did several IVig infusions and cycles TTC.
I was always supposed to get my treatment close to O. Like in the week before or week following Ovulation. They tended to prefer prior to it. Then I would have to have my levels drawn a week later. That would determine when I needed the next infusion. They tended to say infusions every 2 weeks. But it kinda depends on your cycle. Sometimes it's not that frequently.
I never got a BFP under the treatment...so I didn't experience the full rounds of IVig during a pregnancy. But altogether I had 8-10 sessions I think.
I got held up a little with paperwork in the beginning myself.
Insurance wanted to triple check everything. Then the hospital I was going to receive the treatments at wouldn't schedule me because the Dr. didn't have privileges in our area, so I had to go through my local Dr. All of those things took several days. And the hospital wanted to schedule me like 3 weeks out.
I just had to stay on top of them (as nicely as possible) and explain the importance of the timing. I was on the phone a lot.
But in the end they all helped make it happen.
Good luck with your treatments and I hope it leads to success!!
Thanks, swanck. I appreciate the stop by ;-)
You're right about the fight for this, holy geesh, the time and effort and TEARS I've spent trying to get this lined up has been overwelming. While I realize this is an expensive treatment, the insurance company really needs to stop being DOUCHES about everything. It's enough I have to fight my losses and IF, but to BEG for treatment that could help really irks me. lol.
