C-section question...

in 2nd Trimester
Since FI and I won't be married before the baby gets here, what's the likelihood of him being aloud in the room if I have to have a c-section? Anyone have experience with this? I know its probably up to hospital policy, but this thought literally just crossed my mind.

    I'm pretty sure the father is allowed in the OR. Married or not.

    The hospital will let whomever YOU want in there with you.  They can't discriminate against if you're married or not.  Some people have their siblings, mothers, or other relatives/friends.  I think you'll be fine.

    My sister had her fiance in the room with her for her c-section.  I'm pretty sure you'll be able to have whomever you want in there.

    Thanks for the input! I guess I never really connected C-section with surgery before, and thought maybe they'd be restrictive, like next of kin, same as with the ICU. Minor panic attack stalled... Thanks!

    At the hospital I work at the mom designates a support person.  They wear the hospital bracelet.  The support person can be anyone that she chooses and can be in the room.

    I think most hospitals only allow one support person in the OR with the mom and that person is of the mom's choosing.  I wouldn't worry at all about it......you should be fine!

    My hospital lets you have one person, they don't care who it is.
