Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Disney World Win!

Just got back from FL and WDW.  It was awesome and baby loved it.

We spent 3 days in St. Petersburg and mostly ate seafood and went to the public beach on Treasure Island.

Then we spent 4 days at WDW.  We camped at Fort Wilderness in our motorhome.

Here's a list of the stuff baby loved at Disney.

Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue.  It's a dinner show with singing and dancing.  Baby laughed and clapped through the whole show.

Magic Kingdom.  He went on a ton of rides and really seemed to enjoy the day.  The highlight was dinner at the Crystal Palace where he got to meet Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet.  He loved the Main Street Electrical Parade -- wide-eyed and giggling the whole time.  He went on and seemed to like:  WDW Railroad, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean (!!!), Country Bear Jamboree, the Haunted Mansion (!!!!), Liberty Square Riverboat, It's a Small World, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan's Flight, Snow White's Scary Adventures, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, and the TTA PeopleMover.

Epcot.  Mostly, DH and I played "around the world", but baby liked a few things:  Figment, the Seas with Nemo and Friends, the aquarium exhibits with fish, sharks, and manatees, the Maelstrom, and the Three Caballeros.

And a few things that did not go over so well: long lines -- March is too busy, we'll go in mid January next time;  Captain EO -- it broke during the showing and he threw a fit when we left the theater early; most activities after 8:45 pm were a dud except for the Electric Parade, he otherwise slept through 3 fireworks shows and the Electrical Water Pageant.

  • Sounds like a fun trip! I can't wait to take DD but have to wait a few more years.

  • I am so jealous!!!  We brought DS there last year and he loved it too, he was about 16 months old when we went.  I was nervous about how he'd do with napping in the stroller but he did good!  We went to WDW for 1 day so didn't get to do as much as we wanted but still did a ton!  I was amazed at how many things that are baby friendly.

At Universal they have a lot of baby stuff too, and for the big rides they have a parent swap area so you wait in line with your LO, then when it comes time to get on the ride, one parent waits in a designated area with the LO and then when the ride is done they swap and the other parent can get right on the ride without having to wait again.  Some of the rides have a lot to see while you are in line so it was nice for DS.

My inlaws live south of orlando and we like to visit about once a year so we'll probably go to disney or universal every year now too!

  • I love Disney World.  DH and I have decided that we probly wont take the LO's until they are around 5 though.  But I think DH and I will make a trip by ourselves once first because he has NEVER been there!  I find that appauling but only because I've been there like 5 times.

Edit-  We have been debating a DIsney cruise though.

They have the swap thing at Disney too - I am glad to hear that it worked well for your family because we will be there with DD when she is 17 months this summer.

I am so glad to hear that your family had a great time in WDW! We can't wait to go this summer! Thanks for all the tips!

  • Thanks for the list of places your LO liked.  We are just starting to plan a trip with my parents, sister and her family in October and I've wondered what will be the must-do's for DD.  I'm glad you had fun!
