DD takes a short nap in the morning(20 to 30min) about 2 hrs after waking then another in the afternoon (sometimes a third)
SHe goes down easy as long as she isn't overtired. we don;t rock just slow things down a bit before putting her down.
SHe wakes up from the very short morning nap happy babbles smiles when I go get her. in the afternoon she wakes up screaming bloody murder. Even after I go get her she is cranky and unhappy and screams if I put her down or even if I sit down with her. i feel like she is over tired but she won't go back to sleep.
today i put her in her crib again when i couldn't get her to stop fussing and she cried a little then laid there playing with her paci.. i waited till she was calm then went in to get her. she started fussing as soon as she saw me??? but now shes my sweet little girl again
do you think its a developmental thing or just that she isnt sleeping it out?
eve nap is about 30 to 45 min if its longer she usually isnt fussy
Re: waking up from afternoon nap crying
I'm not sure if there is any science to back this up, but when LO does this it reminds me of the way I feel when I wake up from a long afternoon nap; sluggish, disoriented and groggy. I will wait a few minutes after he wakes up if he's crying and usually LO stops crying after a minute and plays for a bit in his crib then calls me and is happy for the rest of the afternoon. I think maybe he just needs some time to wake up in his own way.
I don't know if that helps, but I don't think it's unusual.
I agree. This happens to DD sometimes, and it is often after a long nap.
