Is anyone surprised with people misspelling your LO's name? My LO is named Reese and I thought I spelled it the basic way (hey, it's the same as "Reese's Pieces" and Reese Witherspoon), but I have had SO MANY people spell it Reece already.
I didn't realize I was subjecting my child to a lifetime of "My name is Reese. R-E-E-S-E).
I guess that happens with most names though - my name is Becky and I still say "Becky with a y"
Anyone else?
Re: Unexpected name side effects?
Strange. When I here Reese I think of it with an S.
I am always shocked when people spell Charlie as "Charley." I'd never even seen that before!

Aww- I love the name Reese- but can't imagine spelling it with a c. Maybe people just assume parents spell names differently now- it has become the "norm" I think.
I have had multiple people call my baby Athena. I think she will be forever correcting people- no its Althea NOT Athena. Poor kiddo. And of course she will forever get "oh- your parents must like the Grateful Dead". Yup- they do...but we also have Althea as a family name people- that's not the only place it comes from. Urgh!

As a side note, my nephew is named Landon, but when my sister says it with her nasally Long Island accent it makes me cringe. Its such a cute name, but she butchers it! It ends up sounding like Layndin with a really flat "a" sound.

Yeah, my poor son is going to be spelling his name to people forever. And I've had a few people mistake it for a girl's name, which is just odd.
Whatevs, though, I still like it, and his nickname is really simple, so if he gets sick of spelling his full name, he can always go by his nn.

I've seen Reece but only for a boy name. Any girl's I know with that name is with an "s."
No misspellings for us. Although H has called Kami "Willy" a few times and that's exactly the nickname I wanted to avoid.
Aw. Your LO's have beautiful eyes.

We had a package come from a distant relative with the name Payge on it. ::cringe::
Hells no. Other than that, no problems.
It's a soft "al" not "all" I think that's why it gets mixed up so often. We fell in love with it when we talked about it- and when Adam learned it was a family name- it made our decision easy!

I LOVE the name Lily, but can't imagine spelling it with two L's.
I grew up having to constantly correct the way people spelled my name, and it drove me nuts. There are no problems with Jack's name.
However every morning when I say hello to him, I say "Hi Jack!" and it sounds funny... you know... hijack!

It's so funny that you posted this today, because last night we found out that a huge chunk of hub's extended family think that our daughter's name is Lisa instead of Elsa! Apparently his hard-of-hearing cousin spread the word, and my MIL is too timid to correct anyone. Mike are I have been cracking up about it!
Also, my very sweet neighbor keeps calling her Elza.
I had one person ask me "is that Victoria with a c or a k?" ummm C but thanks.
SIL has Victoria Noel on her facebook and it kills me. I want to correct her in the worst way that it's Noelle - like the girl's name not the holiday TYVM.
Since a lot of traditional boy names have become girl's names, everyone thinks Avery is a girl.
That's why I made his middle name "Paul." DEFINITELY a boy's name. Because if his name were Avery Taylor or something ambi-sex like that everyone would be hella confused.
I'm tardy to the party, but I wanted to participate.
No one can really spell Genevieve anyway, so we don't get too many alternative spellings - lol. But I get the feeling people think it's weird that we call her Genna, spelled with a G. It's basically her name, just shortened. H's cousins call her Jenny, Evie, you name it they say it. It's sooooo freaking annoying. What's so hard about Genna? I also got a lot of "oh, that's different" comments when people asked her name. Genevieve is an older name, not something obscure or that we made up. We named her after my aunt who passed away when I was 16. I miss her every day and now I have a little piece of her in my everyday life.
