I think someone requested I post an update to my situation (starting a new job while waiting for a match + my need/want to stay home for 12 weeks with our child) so....
I had the conversation yesterday, it went well. My employer shared her daughter was adopted so she understood and is going to try to make it work for me! Still not exactly sure about everything but I am glad I brought it up.

That is great! It's funny how many people are touched by adoption that you never knew about until you start the process yourself.
