Trying to Get Pregnant

For those of you with late O / anovulatory cycles

When did you know you weren't going to ovulate? I feel like my fertile signs have disappeared today and still no temp rise. I am getting frustrated with my body.

I also feel like I'm about to get my period and just want it to come already so I can move on to the next month.

Is this premature thinking? I don't have PCOS or any known problems.

thanks :)

Re: For those of you with late O / anovulatory cycles

  • I dont know. Ever. Just when I thought I was going to ovulate this cycle (+opk, tons of EWCM, HSO cervix, and what seemed like O pain) I started my period. No ovulation for me.

I think Ive decided that we are just going to have to EOD it with sex from CD 15 on and hope I DO actually ovulate. Which is pretty much what we tried to do this month. We actually tried to do ED this month. I decided that was a big PITA and a waste anyhow so EOD seems more affective and plausible.

OPKs are the best notification for most people who have irregular cycles. Unfortunately I typically dont get a + until the day of or the day after O so they dont do me a ton of good.

Im sorry, I wish there was more I could tell you that would help.

  • I felt the same way this past cycle.  My CP had changed back to what would be considered infertile, my fertile CM was gone, etc and it still took a few days for my temps to go up to get CH's.  I literally had NO fertile signs (for a few days) by the time I O'ed.  According to FF, I O'ed on CD22 three days later than I thought I would considering all my fertile signs.  Keep BD'ing! :)

This cycle, I've had no clue what's going on.  Like you, I also felt like I was going to start my period about a week or so ago, but it never happened.  It's just a waiting game at this point.  I wish I could give more info, but I think it's just a waiting game now  Sad

  • cd20 is nothing to me! I have ovulated as late as cd35! I imagine it is frustrating though if you typically don't o this late...it is frustrating for me and I have to deal with it every cycle. LOL Hang in there - it can still happen for you this cycle. Just look at it as more opportunity to get the timing right. Good luck!

  • I know it's frustrating, but I would just keep waiting it out. You won't necessarily have an anovulatory cycle.

Last cycle I didn't O until CD38 and I know others go even later than that.

  • I can totally relate to your frustration.

I have had a few cycles where I haven't ovulated at all and they had to be ended with Provera.  Thankfully the last time that has happened was in September.  My last three cycles I O'd around CD 27 which is annoying as well.  Even though I use OPKs it's really exhausting having sex all the time.  I am afraid that for whatever reason if I don't have sex that will be the one time I miss my surge and I'll ovulate.  What I want to avoid is poorly timed sex with 40+ day cycles.

But to answer your question, I don't really know when I am going to O.  Typically I get a + OPK, but because I have PCOS I get those regularly :(

GL to you and I hope you ovulate soon!

  • I never ever ever knew. Until I had CD3 bloodwork several months in a row. I ovulated once out of 4 cycles. I always assumed I did because I had the "cramping" that you get from ovulation (I get it from Clomid, because it makes me ovulate) and assumed that's what it was. However, it was just a cyst ruptering from trying to produce an egg!

Also, it's normal to have a couple of cycles where you don't ovulate. Stress and all that can affect your cycle!

  • Thanks everyone! I actually had cycle day 3 blood work done last summer and my levels were perfect, we just weren't charting yet. I know it's early to get frustrated, but seeing the negative OPK's every single day is starting to annoy me, LOL! I think I am going to ditch OPK's next month... or at least the IC ones. I get a line almost everyday (faint, but there) and it's confusing.

    Thanks again. :)

I gave up on opks early on too for that exact reason...I came back to them this past cycle because I decided I would rather keep seeing negative opks than drive myself crazy trying to analyze every rise and fall in temp to guess if I am oing or not. Do what works for you! Cheers, Salt! :-)
