I blog about my life on a well-known news website. I've written about my pregnancy a few times and just last night I got an e-mail from a legitimate television producer who is looking for single pregnant ladies in their late 30s and into their 40s who would be willing to open up about their life and decision to have a baby alone on camera.
I feel pretty lucky. The producers are behind some pretty big reality shows on NBC, MTV and Lifetime. I am also a part-time filmmaker, so I know what a big deal this could be. They are looking to turn this into a series that will also help single mothers in OUR situation.
My story is simple. I dated my baby's father briefly and after a contraceptive failure, learned I was pregnant. I decided to have my daughter. He has pretty much checked out but is aware of her. I'm due June 30th.
If you'd like to find out more information, please PM me. I will definitely pass your information onto the production team as well as share more pertinent details with you. As as writer, I am excited for this opportunity. I'm writing a book about women in our shoes and would like for it to go somewhere. Something tells me a television show would be a very good thing on many levels!
Cheers,
kat
Re: A television producer contacted me...are you single and pregnant, too?
That's a very cool thing! If they are looking for more people to share their story I would share mine. If you follow my blog you know what happened in my case, if not, the brief lowdown was:
Got pregnant, husband decided to begin cheating/using drugs/was never home. I finally discovered all of this when I was 8 months pregnant and kicked him out. He has faded from our lives and is completely uninvolved now. Hasn't seen his son since June.
If that doesn't read like a Lifetime movie I don't know what does!
Sounds neat. I don't fall into the demographic they're looking for, but keep us posted on how this goes!
By the way, love your baby name.
