My boss has a stalker...

So 6+ years ago before I worked here they were located in a different office in town.  Apparently back then my boss had a stalker, they eventually called the police on him and the police did a background on and found out he was a registered sexual offender.  I guess they couldn't do anything because he hadn't done anything threatening to anyone in the office.  Needless to say she was freaked out and they shortly moved to our current location.  She hadn't seen him since...six years later he walked into our office yesterday.  Found us all the way across town and on the upper floor of a high rise building full of office suites.  We don't advertise, barely have a snippet in the phone book and our website is vague about our location as well.

He is a freaky older gentleman who from the second he walked in the door just gave me a chilling feeling and I didn't know the background at the time.  He asked some strange questions about who was in charge and fortunately she was standing behind me at the copier and told him that person wasn't here and he would have to come back Wednesday when they are, cut him off short and he left.  She never made eye contact with him which now I understand why.  Of course now I'm spooked because my office is at the very front and hers is in the far back.  Guess I'll be getting some pepper spray?

  • Yikes, that is really creepy!  Can you guys make your office secure - like with keycode entries or something?  My old office had several doors off the hallway and they all were set up so you had to punch in a numeric code to open it.

I wish we could but we have client's that come in for meetings daily so that wouldn't work.  We have talked about locking the door and having them knock when they arrive but I don't know how that would be perceived by our clients.

Yeah, I understand, it doesn't work for all work environments.  Another office on our floor had a phone outside that people had to use to call and have someone open the door for them.  Just another idea.  Stay safe!
