2nd Trimester

pet pest

Has any one else had their cat or dog become glued to them??? I cannot go anywhere in the house without the cat following me. or when i seem she has to lay on my chest and keep touching my face. I know she must feel that something is going on with me but OMG leave me alone for a little while

Re: pet pest

  • YES! My cats are on my stomach ALL the time! I swear, my cat Walter steps on the baby as much as possible!
  • My dog started doing this around the end of second tri. She just needed reassurance and some extra love. They know something is going on, and it makes them uneasy. They look to the humans to let them know everything is okay.

She's still pretty clingy, but I try to be patient with her. I know this is a huge transition for her, and the big event is still to come.

  • Oh it drives me crazy! I have a dog and a cat and both of them are constantly trying to crawl all over me. I'm constantly asking my husband to cuddle with the pets because they obviously need it and the dogs weight puts my legs to sleep after fifteen minutes. Glad to know I'm not the only one with clingy pets.
  • Yes!  The more pregnant I am the more my cat MUST sit on me and get attention NOW.  He has become so demanding, especially at night.  He is used to sleeping with us but we want to co-sleep when the baby arrives, so he will get kicked out, and I don't think he will take it very well.

  • Yes.  For awhile it was my little girl and now my little Papillon has to be resting RIGHT next to me anytime I am seated.  He is keeping me warm as I type this.

I cannot say that I mind, though.

  • Sometimes they are glued to me and other times they act normal.  My female dog is way more protective than she use to be.  None of my friends can hug me or she goes nuts.  She has also started humping the male dog even though they are both fixed.  Very strange.  Oh and when I go to use my doppler, she runs from the room.

  • yes! My bulldogge has always been like this, very clingy. But we have a 5 month old Great Dane puppy and when we first got her (I was like 8 weeks along), she was such a daddy's girl and would follow him everywhere. But over the past couple of weeks she has become like attached to me. Every night she climbs up on my lap and takes a nap right on my belly and she follows me everywhere I go. I feel bad for DH because this is really his puppy (and the bulldogge is mine) but she basically ignores him now.
  • My dog and cat have always been super clingy, both are cuddlers and I totally blame it on my "single" days when it was just us three and they were beyond spoiled and rarely had to share.  I do think they fight over the coveted "against stomach" position more now since I'm not normally a side sleeper.  DH thinks its cute how they sandwich me every night and follow me from room to room during the day.

    :)

(@Skibunny07:  I'm obsessed w/ great danes and have been since I was seven, my friend had one!  It was even part of my "I'll marry you but you must understand that I NEED to own a great dane by the time I'm 30"  agreement with DH!!)

You should get one if you can. She's such a good dog. So calm and gentle and a really fast learner. She's so good with kids too. We bring her around my 14 month old niece and she's so gentle with her. She unfortunately doesn't stay still long enough to get a good piucture of her unless she is sleeping so here is a cute one from earlier this month. She's about 50 pounds now I think.

  • My 3 year old dog is a total mama's girl and has always followed me everywhere but she seems to not get that I am pregnant yet. She is the same if not indifferent. I am wondering when/ if she will ever notice!
