So kinda corny, but I went and found a video on youtube... It was an episode of I love Lucy where Ricky finds out they are having a baby. I posted that, then posted a line from the song "We're having a baby, my baby and me." And everyone caught on. It was cute. :] Good luck!

That is cute! I haven't officially said anything and nobody has posted anything really public yet. I figure word will get around eventually. I previously miscarried so maybe thats another reason I'm not too into posting on fb.

I intentionally hid on FB until 24 weeks and only announced b/c I figured that was easier than individually emailing the 10 or so people on there that I was close enough to for it to be weird if I never mentioned it before the baby was born - we're extremely cautious due to a prior late 2nd trimester loss. So I just changed my profile pic to a Bump pic without saying anything when I hit 24 weeks.
I made a cute themed graphic (since i'm due in the fall it was leaves and pumpkins) and put the announcment on that. Everyone loved it and it was nice because all those comments are in an album vs just moving down my wall I plan to print the graphic out and use it for the baby's scrapbook too for various things since i can change the words!
I haven't announced yet either, so I'm excited to see what others are posting. I want it to be at least slightly creative Also, I'm so happy to see others who have waited longer than 12 weeks to announce. At almost 20 weeks people are shocked that I haven't done FB announcement yet, but I'm just being very careful.

I kinda announced last week. We had our anatomy scan on my bday. I thanked everyone for their bday wishes and also mentioned how my day started off "Pink" - since we are expecting a girl. No one picked up on it I will probably do something over the next few days of LO#1 wearing his Big Brother in Charge T-shirt we just got him and see if people notice his tshirt.
With #2 I posted about 5-6 new pics and one of them was DD reading a book called 'I'm the big sister!" of course people noticed it and started commenting.
This time I am not sure yet...I am waiting until after my 20wk appt and then will figure it out. I might just post the u/s pic.
Daughter born July 2008; Daughter born March 2010
Son born August 2011
A friend of mine, when she put on FB she was pregnant, used every phrase possible that is used to say your pregnant and listed them in her FB status. Example:
NAME is knocked up, has a bun in the oven, is preggers, etc....on and on the list went. It was cute!
I was going to change my picture to me with a can of Prego spaghetti sauce... and as my status say, something along the lines of It's official, I drank the water...
I kind of want to say, "Oh, so THATS what my uterus is for!" but I'm not sure if people would get it.
I would probably be like, "Are you saying what I think you're saying?"
I announced on FB, but I didn't really have the option of making it cute because my super conservative grandmother is on FB and I knew she'd wreck the announcement. She wrecked it anyway, but I'm not as sad since it wasn't anything cutesy. But I got so many well-wishes I was pleased as punch anyway.
I took a picture of a bun in our oven and made a sign with a toothpick in the bun that read, "Baby T Due 9.10.11". We got a ton of fun comments regarding our announcement, including how clean our oven was

We also haven't announced on facebook yet, but once we do we're going to post a picture of all the junk food in our closet and write, "You know your wife's pregnant when your pantry looks likes this..."
Not a status but my brother is a photographer and for Christmas took pictures of my husband and I in a park. He then took a couple of photos of us in our home holding onto/looking at/showing our ultrasound. He then made it into a book and that is how we told our family (with the u/s pics at the end).
After we had our 12 wk appt (and I was reassured that everything was still a-okay), I posted the same pictures in the same in an album on facebook and titled it "My brother is a photographer, he's cool like that". Then I sat back and waited and within a couple of hours the comments on the u/s pics that were tucked away in the back came pouring in.

Mine wasn't creative as several family members had alluded to it on FB already, but a friend of mine put "has a bun in the oven and a head in the toilet" which totally cracked me up.

This is what I put:
"Since nothing is official till it's on FB anymore, I guess it's time to announce that as of 7/17/11 there will be three of us"

(because we were having twins) I plan to do something cool once we find out what we are having...
I also read about writing "gosh who knew growing 10 fingers and 10 toes is so exhausting"
or my other favorite if DH has Fb
"hey Dh do you think its okay if we let everyone know we are pregnant now?
I would probably be like, "Are you saying what I think you're saying?"

I put:
"First comes love...
Then comes marriage...
Then comes.... ;-)"
I received a lot of compliments for that one!
We sent out pregnancy announcements to our extended family and then posted it on Facebook a week or two after.
