Those who've had 1st bday parties

Anything you forgot to bring to the party?  I was just looking at some lists online and there were things that I would prob forget to bring (lighter for candles) and some things I wouldn't think about (putting sanitizer and tissues by the door).  We're having DS's party at a hall so I just want to make sure I have everything covered.  TIA.

Re: Those who've had 1st bday parties

  • i didn't have sanitizer and tissues by the door, but I expect that my guests came without cold/flu germs and would wash their hands if they sneezed or coughed in them...

I had DD's party at my mom's house.  I don't think there was anything special that I needed to "remember".  We had presents, cake and food (pizza, ordered in).  Most of my family are smokers so there were lighters for the candles a-plenty.

I guess I'm just not sure what else might be on a "list" of first birthday items.....can you linky me to one or two of them?  I'm curious now.

Yeah I guess we will need to bring a high chair. And probably something to clean it after he's done eating cake. Thanks that's a good one.
  • Mine was at home, but here are some ideas:

bibs, wipes, camera, chargers, bags for gifts, change of clothes and then the stuff for the actual party (decorations, food, etc).

  • don't forget a candle for the cake! i almost forgot about a garbage can, but your venue will have that.

  • We had ours at a hall too.  I took a wash cloth and towel to wipe off LO and another set to wipe down tables and counters.

You'll want tape or push pins for any decorations.

A pen and paper if you need to write down who gave what gift.

serving utensils,  maybe dish soap to wash any dishes in case your hall doesn't have any,

That's all I can think of right now.

There ended up being more banquet tables than they originally said so my FIL ran to a dollar store to get more tablecloths.  I also should have brought more containers for all the leftover food and cake.

  • I always take toliet paper, soap, air freshner and disposable towels for the bathroom. I even take it when we go to the park or the beach just in case.

Spare candles, change of clothes for LO, pen & paper, serving utensils, aluminum foil to cover the food, tape for putting up decorations, sissors, paper towels and cleaning solution. I always wipe down tables before using them..
